To be honest, I would have to say that this was not completely unexpected. After all, what do you think your readers will do if all they see is a little bit of text and the same old Vonage ad over and over again? I did not have huge RSS readership to brag about, but on a larger site the dynamics of loosing that readership would be so much more devastating. It went down like this: Day before implementing RSS ads - approx. 100 views Day when the ads were implemented - 62 Next day - 63 The day after - 8 Average after that - approx 3 It had been suggested here that Vonage is filtered out, but I'm afraid this is going to completely bust the Web earnings 'cause these seem to be the highest paying ads (although CTR still sucks). Anyone has better experience to share?
Have you ever used RSS ads before? Does Google have them? Have your previous experiences with other companies also been negative?
I tried out YPN for a while. The revenue per a click was great, just wasn't ever relevant. Had about 20 sites in the block list and they just keept sending more. Luckly I didn't get the RSS ads to woek. I hope they increase advertiser base to increase relevant ads.
