Wow. That's surprising to hear. YPN never worked for me and I just assumed it was my niche that had bad ad inventory. 2 years ago when I started with AdSense their payouts were as high as YPN's when they launched. It took Google ~1yr since then to drop the payout level. YPN is much quicker to do that (and lose its publishers subsequently)
WOW - shoemoney is an Adsense 'heavy' (and according to his excellent blog), dabbles in a number of other programs. Certainly says something when he says no thanx YPN. My experience has been a bit better, although yea, there ad relevence needs improving.
I'd imagine that for some sites YPN will convert better than Adsense and vice versa. Can't wait until YPN goes global so I can try it out.
It's all about your niche with YPN. For me, YPN stunk in all but one or two of my niches. So I went back to adsense where YPN didn't work and stuck 100% with YPN when they did work.
Great points. It'd be interesting to hear what is working well for those running YPN in terms of market genre of ads, i.e. online marketing, health, real estate, etc. My main AdSense revenue generator is freshdames.com but the only reason is the sheer amount of traffic, not because "entertainment" type ads pay well. However, the majority of my traffic comes from Yahoo and MSN so it'd be interesting to find out if YPN does higher payouts for my niche.
I agree good points--got my invitation email from YPN today. Now I will be able to see who payouts higher for pet ads so far google SUCKS!
I'm wondering if the trust for the search engine one uses, can also carry over to the ads one clicks. If one uses google for their main search, would they also be more inclined to click on an "ads by google" ad? Which can also be true for YPN. -PYJAMA
I too got a call - had a nice chat and did what everyone else has been doing, making suggestions and promising to try it out.
I got a call from Janeen (Yahoo Marketing Rep.) today. I was impressed that they took the time to call... The problem is ad targeting for me. Plus the payouts are not what I have heard they would be. On my sites, adsense was the better choice. Funny though, I got the call right after making this post on my site: YPN.
well the issue with YPN right now is their inventory of ads. They have nowhere near enough categories to target,, which in return makes the YPN ads non relevant when used on a niche site. So far for me it is Adsense then Chitika.... I think YPN will get better , but they definitley need more relevant ads
