YPn + Kontera ?

Discussion in 'Publisher Network' started by Tearabite, Dec 21, 2008.

For the last few weeks i've been testing all my different ad networks to see how hey perform. Even though i've been disgusted with YPN in the past and gave up on it long ago i started testing it the other day and was surprised to see decent ad-targeting and relativly high ePC..

My question though, is can ypn be used on the same pages as Kontera's in-text ads? The TOS says you cannot use YPn with "competing contextual ad services", but i'm not sure if "in text" ads like Kontera's are "competing".. I sent an email to YPn support, but i'm not holding my breath for an answer..

Anyone know? (no guessing please).. if i ever get a response from YPn i'll post it here..

I believe using YPN with Kontera is allowed just like running Adsense and Kontera is allowed. I've seen a website running YPN + Kontera before.

Well after a few emails back and forth with Yahoo support, the lady finally called me and although she did not give me a definite "no", she indicated it would not be safe and she recommened that i not put YPn on the same pages that have Kontera or Chitika in-text ads..

On a side note, i must say i'm a bit impressed with YPN (as opposed to bashing it like i have been for the last year).. like i said above, i got a few thousand impressions with YPN before i realized that there might be a TOS problem - but in that time i saw good targeting and good ePC.. i'm also impressed that my support question was answered very quickly and, she even called me on the phone to clear things up.

Could YPn be on the comback?!

Yes, Kontera usually pays about 80% of Adsense, but since November has been paying more than Adsense..

That's an interesting response because Adsense and Kontera are used all the time. And YPN is doing such a miserable job of reporting anything.

Nothing like an "I don't know" from the source. Makes one wonder if anyone at YPN knows anything.

yes, i think kontera works best on content-based sites like a forum.. also, the subject/niche of the forum/content will make a big difference on your earnings..
Like i said, for the last month or two Kontera has been out performing my Adsense - yesterday Kontera earned me OVER 2x what Adsense did..

Your mileage may vary, but if you havn't tried it, you should.

For most sites, most of the time, Adsense will do better than Kontera.. this was the case for me for the last year or two UNTIL the last few months.. Starting around Oct. of this year, my Adsense earnings began to drop and my kontera earnings began to increase.. Since November of this year Kontera has been earning more than Adsense, and on many days this month, kontera has been earning double what Adsense has..

Yes, you can use both PN and Kontera at your website.
However, please take noted that kontera will slow down your website loading speed much

Actually, some months ago, it was concluded that Kontera paid very little. But from what you are saying; it means it's really paying maybe i should just put it back on my website...

    Pls, i want more confirmation.

What you earn with Kontera will depend on many things - one of those things is how many advertisers or campaigns they have at any given time.. This is why I rotate through all my ad-networks every few months - one that was doing poorly six months ago might be doing great today.. This is how i realized that YPN was doing much better.
