A mate told me that Yahoo contextual ads are served via OMGUK.com, at 40% revenue share. Anybody had experience of this? I'm not impressed by the 40%. What is the estimated revenue share for YPN in the States?
They would be talking about a 40% share after yahoo takes their cut (which isn't disclosed, but more than 25% imo). US publisers get 100% after yahoo takes their cut. That doesn't sound like a very good deal - especially since YPN PPC has dropped quite a bit in most sectors and adsense now pays more in some situations - especially when you factor in the CTR, which is higher with adsense in most cases. While you can run adsense with YPN (as long as it is on a different page or not displayed at the same time) I do not think that program allows you to run adsense at any time.
Thanks mjewel. I asked OMGUK and they said it is 40% of the advertiser's bid. So I reckon Yahoo take about 40-50% and OMG about 10-20%.
hi, yeah I use YPN via OMG. To be honest, its pretty lame. I've made pence only. This is not OMGs fault, but the adverts are just no good for me. My site is super-niche, and with such super content D ), that the barely relevant YPN adds are simply never clicked. I've now got them tucked away in a corner, just to keep an eye on them really. If I ever see some good ones i'll move them back I suspect they will only accept you if your site is in one of their startup categories, but not too niche Another annoying thing is that OMG will not (or can not) give you stats, number of impressions etc Also, its for uk traffic only, and most of mine is US. I would set up filtering, but to be honest with the returns so far, i'm not bothered if I get booted
