YPN emailed me...

A member of the YPN team emailed me and told me that i have to take down any images/graphics that are near the side of the ads. They said if i wanted to continue using the program they would have to be removed :(

Just thought i would let everyone know, incase anyone else is using pics near there ads. I believe they contacted me and gave a warning because i am a large account. If you are a smaller account they may just ban you. So just a warning to everyone.

Interesting news on that. This has been allowed by Google for a while now. Yahoo had not chimed in on their opinion yet until now. I have a feeling they are going to eventually put it in writing then. Thanks for the update.

Ya, when i got this news i warned a friend that was doing the same as me so he called them and the support person reviewed the site and said he was okay.

So i called and asked them to review my site and told him that i had recieved an email. He asked who the email was from and when i told him he said that is the person in charge of that department and he would know the most up to date changes.

So if you call and they say you are okay, it's only because this is new and not even written in the terms yet. But you can be banned for it, and they are reviewing accounts.

did they give you any indication of whether or not you would get paid the money that you've been making so far?

yes i would assume they are because they said nothing about losing any revenue. and i am not being banned because i did as they asked. however someone else may not be as lucky.

i feel grateful that they emailed me and just warned me!

From what we have seen though Yahoo is more into communication than Google. They will tell you what is wrong before they would ban you unless the infraction is totally blatant. Where as Google tends to ban first and then ask questions later.

I have not 1 but 2 email confirmations from the YPN team giving me the green light to use a custom image coupling technique. 2 unique sites.

They may have asked you to remove the images because the image u were using weren't generic enough. Or maybe it's a new policy. Maybe I should email them again to reconfirm the authorization?

Why do you feel grateful? Publishers shouldn't bow down to ad companies like this....you did nothing wrong by putting the images there. It's not in their TOS and they've told me on the phone 4 times that it's OKAY. If they banned you, that would be downright ridiculous. I understand you're happy to not get banned, but there should be no threat of you being banned for that in the first place...

Anyway, this is definitely going to get interesting if we can't use the images. Revenue will be dropping like mad all over the place.

By the way, can I ask what kinds of images you were using? I was told that you can't use anything that incentivizes the clicking...as in flashing images, arrows, etc....but regular images are okay.

He didn't even get banned, and I've had reps tell me multiple times that images are okay.

Maybe something higher up has changed, but I think YPN is way too reasonable to ban an account for something not even in their TOS...and something the reps have said is okay.
