I know no has a clear cut answer but what has your experience been with myspace traffic? I would be fine with them auditing the clicks if they dont convert, my main concern would they ban if my traffic spiked due to a big bulletin post or perhaps when I market my viral myspace tool?

I know a lot of myspace reousrce sites use yahoo witha lot of succes... I'm just a litttle worried.

Be worried, and don't risk it. Just my 2 cents. :)

I've heard YPN don't like this, as people just use the most highing keyword category and enjoy the money roll in, but if you have a high traffic site, Google can work it's magic. YPN often gets a very low CTR and less clicks...

On the other hand, you're not really doing anything wrong, are you? I think that Yahoo! is less likely to ban you for something like this than Google. Google Adsense seems to be like "ban now and ask questions when they come to us". Seriously: what part of the TOS do you think you're in violation of?

Hmm, as long as ads are converting decently, you are fine.

Yahoo has been infamouse for banning for myspace traffic before, Google doesn't share the same reputation (whether it is deserved or not is not the point..).
Your best bet IMO would be to take ad managment software like phpAdsnew and limit the exposure of each of the ads (to your normal traffic amount) and then slowly move it up. This way you have both Google and YPN revenue (in case one bans you and decides not to anti up), and can always increase or decrease the ratio's of traffic you send to each as you see fit.

its retarded that yahoo ban based on traffic source. Anything that comes froma valid ip address in the US should be considered valid, bottom line. Pretty sonn they will expect us to only have traffic from people who make a certain amount of money per year and fall into a specific age categoery. Its simply retarded to think otherwise imo

They have their advertisers to worry about. Traffic from myspace due to the type of audiance is there doesn't convert well for most of advertisers. Plus YPN is totally off when it comes to contextual ad targeting and people are misusing their category targeting feature.

They have to do something to retain advertiser interest in their system.

I agree but also it doesnt make sense to ban myspace site owners who are advertising on myspace with legitimate ads being displayed.

It is horrible that webmaster's are displaying law ads on myspace sites but there are many who dont. I have toys and hobbies on my arcade and it shows vonage half the time! Not my fault!

YPN is NOT BANNING MYSPACE sites. they are banning sites with low performing ads. many unscrupulous myspace and arcade owners have put images next to ads and/or used financial ad targetting to get very high $ clicks. due to the high traffic levels many of these sites get, the advertisers can get stuck with a high bill for clicks that were generated in a misleading manner and not turning into conversions on their end.

YPN is totally fine with myspace traffic and sites - they have specifically said so on the YPN blog. just don't try and push the envelope with your ad placements.

Yeah.. Y! has no issue with using myspace websites... it's just the way people abuse them to get higher CTR...

YPN's issue is with low converting ads - that is, ads that get clicked on but the visitor doesn't buy anything or complete the advertiser action. MySpace traffic is known to be very low in converting for advertisers in general. YPN won't ban you for "MySpace", it will be for low converting traffic - which you can generally, but not always, expect from MySpace. The problem is, you have no way of knowing if the traffic is converting or not until you get a email from YPN saying you have been dropped from the program.

I have a bunch of myspace sites making $500+ a day and this has been going on since november. As long as you don't break the tos you are fine. Also they don't like it if all your traffic is from bulletins, so I've seen.
