YPN and Chitika - no go?

    Hello everyone,

These little Chitika eMiniMalls ads seemed to have generated enough buzz lately to get me interested, too:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=31099

You would think Yahoo's rules for placement would be similar to that of Google's: OK with static keyword(s); not OK with contextual ads. Makes sense, doesn't it? Here I am getting an e-mail back from Yahoo saying that their guidelines "does not allow YPN ads to be placed on the same ads as similar ads from other Search Marketing companies".

Has anyone inquired Yahoo about these yet? This answer seems to be too broad to me, I wonder if the guy even cared to look at one of those ads: there is really nothing similar in appearance between YPN ads and the eMiniMalls.

    Success stories anyone?

I haven't tried Chitika eMiniMalls (yet), but sounds similar to what I've read was Google's initial response. I guess I'd try responding, letting them know that they look nothing like the Yahoo ads, and see what happens.

If that doesn't work, you can always try the "Google lets people do it" approach.

And if that doesn't work, you could always test the effectiveness of Chitika eMiniMalls vs. the Yahoo ads (on seperate pages) and drop the less effective ads...

I was just about to ask about this. There is no similarity between Yahoo! and Chitika ads. They look and behave totally different.

I just got a word from Yahoo couple minutes ago.

They OK'ed Chitika in non-contextual mode. So, go ahead and go crazy on your eMiniMalls :)

On a side note: I myself don't have much excitement about Chitika 'cause having it run in non-contextual format pretty much kills any CTR. I know other people do well with it, but in my case I don't seem to be in a right niche or something
