Youtube Videos and SERPS - How to Get Them There?

So I've been spending time reading about people complaining about Youtube Videos in SERPS: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=842923&highlight=youtube&page=2

I thought it would be better if we had a post where people shared ideas on how to get their videos in the SERPS instead of just complaining.

Mostly because I'm planning a launch of a video and I want to be number 1 for my keyword. I think buying views is a great ideas but there seems to be more.

How Do you Get alot of embeds of your video on sites?

Since youtube seems to be a trusted site can you have alot of links to your page without having to worry as much about the quality?

How important do you think Tags are in comparison with the Title? Do you think you do better if your video is just the search term verses a phrase?

Basically what are your thoughts on getting a google video High in the SERPS.

Obviously it's the reach, you reach a lot of people and you get a lot of embeds, which can be done by gaining honors and getting lots of plays.

The next way is to cheat a little, OK as you may be aware there are literally 1000s of auto Youtube sites, galleries, blogs etc. OK Now what is it that they want ? Sex, Games, Sport, Music - popular topics obviously, these are webmasters like our selfs and they are trying to tap into the niches.

OK so these galleries and auto sites have a very simple spider to grab the results, they send out searches for sexy, babe, porn, nba, music, Britney etc. etc. So you want to target these sites, it's as simple as entering as many of these hot key words into your description of the video and tags.

What do you mean ? Well anyway, yes simply put, get many links to your video, but this is the honor pages duty, the honor pages on Youtube carry a lot of weight to your video link and it's a free link from Youtube. Apart from that use the social bookmarks on the Youtube video page as well.

Well very important, as covered above, the tags tell the leeching sites what your video is about, and also help Youtubers to find your video, add as many as possible and use the suggested keywords as well, have a look at auto Youtube site - you will notice each one has a whole bunch of keywords under the videos.

So basically find a hot topic, target the search term with the video title, use popular tags and not ones like "me" "www.yoursite" "Lol" "cool" "ad me to favorites" "subscribe me' etc. then submit the video to social networks, get lots of plays, gain honors etc.

Always remember the first 24 - 48 hours are most important, buying plays and other goodies for your video after this time frame is pretty useless.

What do you think about link text from sites to your youtube video? Like if you had 200 links to your site with the link text of "sex" it seems like being in the google SERPS might work better.

Anyone else have some thoughts on this.

yeah of course, linking to your video is important, but imagine having 50 links on youtube from the honor pages alone, that's where the big guys rule the roost, they get quick honors and optimize their video details to suit search engine rankings.

yes but those honor pages aren't permanent for your video unless you keep them. i'm more interested in permanent links.

First - when you get information from someone, you should consider how reliable that information is.

These are my youtube stats. A link to my account is in my signature.
    Videos Uploaded: 278
    Video Views: 1,254,462
    Channel Type: Director
    Channel Views: 48,206
    Subscribers: 2,131

1.25 million views may not be a lot, but its a lot more then most of the people here have.

    Keywords:
The very first word in the youtube title is the most important. Do not use words like "the" as the first word in the title of your video.

Keywords (in the keyword box) are important, but so is the video description.

Copy the keywords from the keywords box and paste it at the bottom of the video description. I have seen videos whos description box was filled with keywords and nothing more. The person used every popular actors name in the video description.

    Links:
I put a link to my site on the very first line of the video description. If the video is embedded into a thread on my forum, I will put a link to the thread.

A few months ago youtube switched to a "nofollow" on their links. So youtube links do not count towards building page rank.

    Bait and switch:
If you want a lot of views, inset a picture of a model in the exact middle of the video. Youtube pulls the preview image from the middle of the video. Videos with a preview of a nice looking lady (or man) will get more views.

I personally do not use bait and switch, as I find it unethical.

The forums question, humm - make a good video and people will watch it. If you are a member of a forum, post the video there. Sometimes I have signed up on forums just to post my videos. Look for forums that have embedding software installed. That way people can watch the video straight from the forum, instead of having to go to youtube. But views from embeds can cut down on your awards. Only views from youtube count towards your video winning an award.

I promote my site almost exclusively through video hosting sites. This technique has greatly increased my forums membership as compared to other sites that do not make videos.

Is it true that non-YouTube views(embedded) no longer effect YT awards? When did this change take place?

My method of getting Youtube views come from direct views, and not from embeds. Holla if you need me.

    Thanks for all the ideas.

I'm going to be trying a few videos soon that have 2-3 keywords and see what kind of youtube and google locations I get.

The oldest trick in the book .... hence why it's now gone .... awesome I reckon. Now all the shonky sellers are packing up and leaving, nothing beats legitimate traffic to Youtube videos.
