Hi everyone ! I would like to know, is it illegal to use a brand/name product for our Youtube ID ? For example, let's take the product "Product-XYZ" on Clickbank. Can I use "Product-XYZ" as a Youtube user name/ID, without any trouble, 0 legal problem ? Or could the "Product-XYZ" owner can take legal actions ? Thank you ;o)
- Well, thanks, very very helpful answer..... you know, if you don't know the answer, nobody force you to respond. Strangely, this answer comfort me much more. Thank you Zoloft (a real Thank you this time ;o) P.S. : "Zoloft" is a medicine against antidepressant. Are you a anti-depressiveness human ? :O) -
If it's trademarked - no, you can't do that (well you can, but it wont last long). Nothing bad would happen, but the trademark owner will probably complain to Youtube, send the trademark serial number and say that you're wrongfully impersonating them or causing commercial confusion. That's how we got our Youtube company name back here at work, from some kid.
- Thanks Markn26. But in that case, what about affiliates who use the Trademark in their blogs, url's, articles, in forums etc ? For the URL example, if we take the trademarked product "ProductABC", something like : www.affiliatedomain.com/ProductABC-reviews.htm Same thing for blogs, articles, forums... you know what I mean ? -
I'd be willing to say that 99.9% of the time, the product owner will not be ok with their affiliates using their name as a username. You should send an email to the program telling them what you want to do, and ask their permission. I do that before registering domain names, and every single time, they thank me for asking and say that they do not allow their brand name to be represented that way.
the product might have announced abt TM bidding , TM usage with their affiliates. if they allow then its fine or else you normally doing a risk thing
