What's the advantage of putting a video on YouTube? I mean it could get used on other websites, but how does that help in driving traffic to my site since I can't embed links in the video. If it's a popular video wouldn't it be better to just leave it on my site instead and have other websites link to that instead? I know you can get a live link in the description on YouTube, but other than that how does having other websites embed the video help me? Thanks
Just put link on video...i suggest if your url too long try to find domain which are short and easy to remember then ridirect your actual link from this domain.
Hi bob25, why not put it on both? Don't even stop there. There are plenty of other video sharing websites around. You don't have to upload it to all of them just the main ones. Youtube being the biggest. Particularly having your video on Youtube there's more chance of it being found in the Google SERPS for relevant keyword searches. Also if you planning on creating any more videos you can create your own YouTube channel which is branded. Even more you could link it in to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. I could go on but one more thing springs to mind. It's also easier for people to syndicate your video if it is one YouTube. I hope this helps!
It's possible to put actual links in the video now? I haven't tried for several years now, I know you can do overlays or something, but isn't that only to URL's in the YouTube domain? Thanks
You can add one of those overlay textboxes afterwards through youtube itself, and then enter a link in it.
Basically the keywords in this category have a high CPC so I'd rather the viewers have to come to my site rather than YouTube to see the video (yeah I know they get WAY more traffic), and if it's on Youtube then why come to my site. Or they have the option to embed the video and if they can view it at other peoples site then why visit mine. Yeah I know, just give them a sample on YouTube that's why I was wondering about the links. If I can make external links then I have more options. Thanks guys, I'll look into it.
Youtube is a community with great tools that you can use to your advantage! It's also a place where A LOT of people hang out that could potentially become your customers. Not to mention it's power as a search engine itself.
Well if its TARGETED traffic you're looking for than Youtube is probably a great source for it. When you make a video, focus on providing GOOD CONTENT period! Once you do that it will probably leave an impression on the viewer that its worth visiting your website. This is the kind of traffic you need rather than the one that bounces off your site. Youtube is a friendly place for lazy people - ones who are geeky fro videos so this can work in your favor if you offer good content. I would recommend having a dedicated videos page on your site just to target these people. Further, if you really want to post links etc you can use the TAGING that youtube offers, or even watermark your website into the video itself. There are a million ways - but my point being, make a name for yourself first.
youtube is the #1 video directory on the internet...YOU MUST use youtube to your advantage... there are hundreds of video directories and youtube is the biggest...use it to get traffic...give tips, etc...
You need to look at the bigger picture. Obviously I haven't seen the video but if it has your branding within it then does it really matter where they view it? Also with video populating more and more within Google SERPs then there is more chance people will see your brand. I'm not saying don't put it on your own site but there is everything to gain by also putting it on Youtube
