I've posted a few videos in search of some targeted traffic from youtube and it gets a great response. The only problem is that the videos that get a high view count are usually irrelevant to your site so people will click off your site as sson as they get to your landing page. I think the key is to have a targeted video linked to your site, aimed at your target audience. The problem is how many people will search that niche on Youtube. It's a vicious cycle but is all Youtube marketing in vain? Opinions/ Tips welcome
I agree about having a link from your website with a video gets higher hit rates because the video benefits from the website traffic. Youtube generally catalogs videos by special keywords, called "tags". Tags can be custom, which often results in me searching Youtube for a specific topic and ending up with an unrelated video.
I am having fairly reasonable success with youtube marketing. For one, it's free so one can't really go wrong there. I think it can depend on what one is trying to market through youtube, some stuff just does not really 'go' all that well with video if you know what I mean. I assume they are no follow but whatever, that by including my link on every description for every video I post, they show up as backlinks. Doesn't take long to slap together a few videos, do up a channel, so everyone may as well IMO.
i used that method too, its gooooood but the video tags arent the subject of your site.. and that's the problem.
Yes but the problem is when you chnage the tags as to those targeted to your site you get less views.... Is youtube a no go?
Maybe Im reading it wrong..but the video tags that you use arent related to your site? If thats the case...Ild click away also...your credibility just turned to zero. Ive made many a video for people to show on you tube..tagged correctly..and they draw traffic...what you have to consider is one..its free..and 2..the long term effects
Interesting thread. I am giving this a go (put my 1st video up today).. I'll report back on traffic.. fingers crossed for good results! I think I will need about 40k pageviews on my video before it surpasses my competitors videos.. might be a long wait
There is a technique which I've seen marketers do. They search for a high pageview video posted by an amateur or hobby video poster whose intention was only the video to be seen. Then they find an affiliate product related to the video, design a landing page and tell the author of the video, they are interested in buying their "About This Video" space. Place a link in there and with a video of million pageviews you can't go wrong
THANKS, a great idea, do you have an idea of how much people will sell their about section? This could genrate thousands within days!!! Anybody got any videos with large amounts of hits, i'm willing to buy space!
Hey, I just gave you a million dollar idea, you can't expect from me to tell you who will sell for how much! Do your research
I'm currently trying out Tubemogul where you can submit to various cideos sites (not just youtube) with 1 upload, will post results here soon
I've posted three videos on youtube this far. My first video has 1,000 views in 10 days with only one referal coming to my site from youtube. So far I've read that I need to 1) Post a link in my about section. 2) Trying to buy my advertising space? Any more ideas on how to drive traffic from page views? Any ideas on the best place to put your website link in the about (top, middle or end)? Anyone care to elaborate on buying your own advertising space? Thanks a lot, great thread. Marc
Well, i would say youtube is a free, pure traffic generating system. The only problem is trying to get tons of views. The most i have ever got on one vid was 40,000 so far. It really takes a bit of luck as well.
