A German court in Hamburg has held YouTube responsible for copyright violations that occurred when users posted music clips on the company's platform. This could pave the way for large royalty payments for user-created content, at least in Germany. The court apparently stopped short of ordering Google to police all the content on the YouTube site, but did find that it was liable for material that was not promptly removed on request.
