You get the idea. I see this same script everywhere. I was wondering for the people whom wanted a Youtube clone what solution did you end up going with? Does anyone have any reviews of the various scripts or where they purchased them from? I'm looking at doing a small Youtube clone type site specific to an area and am looking for a youtube'eqsue solution.
there is a bunch of money to be made for those that build a shady youtube that doesnt care about copyrights...(see dailymotion.com).
Not really concerned about money, more looking for reviews of people currently using the script actively.
Hi Garthilk, The scripts are pretty much the same. They all come from the same original script then was modified to some extent by each of us in our own way. Clip-Share has given the script a face lift but I think it is still the same script with minor updates. If you have the needed addons to your server any of these youtube scripts will work very well for you.The needed plugins to run the script from us (StockScripts) clip-share or altrasoft are: FFmpeg FFmpeg-PHP Mplayer + Mencoder flv2tool LAME MP3 Encoder Libogg + Libvorbis There are some very good scripts but with less features found in these forums that do not have these requirements. We are working on one now but it could be a little while before it is complete. I am not sure this answered your question but hopefully it gave you some information
I am still trying to research Clip-Share, but I have read some horror stories on the Sitepoint forums about Alastrasoft.
No disrespect to the fine people that work at Alastrasoft, but their support just would need to be better if I were to buy any of their scripts for my clients. http://demo.flickscript.com/ We are actually going to buy this script for one of our projects, really well written and affordable. You should also think of the cost a dedicated server will run ($100/month), don't even think that a share hosting will be enough to run a video sharing website. CPU error anyone?
Video sharing costs bandwidth and bandwidth = money don't start it until you guarantee a good way of monetizing the site and decent traffic so you don't waste the server costs in no traffic Good Luck
Clip-share support sucks, I paid them 50USd to set up my server, they promised to do it the next day and it's been more than 2 days now. I'm displeased. I also found a bug in the script and corrected in myself.
Well, it has been a week since I owned FlickScript and I have to say they have the absolute best support team I have ever seen from any PHP based script product. I am bias to ASP.Net applications. Unfortunately, I have to be honest. I personally don't feel FlickScript itself if ready for primetime. Like the others, it is full of bugs. I am slowly loosing interest. I'll will pick it back up next year when I feel the product is more stable.
I haven't tried these script. I got a reseller youtube clone script and it runs all right. If you like to get the script, It can be downloaded at wealtharea. Regards, Val
