Wow, this is new to me. Before long there will be more and more videos such as this one. Looks like we're going to have to relay on a new video-engine sooner or later.
Boy...i really hope some of my favorite channels dont go this route. Of course were about to see an influx of kids with video cameras charging enormous amounts to watch them shoot a hoop or something.
LOL, yup, you can rent the video for 72 hours at the cost of $1.99. I usually watch just the first 30 seconds of a YouTube video because most of them are bad,.. that $1.99 could add up to a lot of money before I found something I wanted to watch completely.
! This rental is currently unavailable in your country. If it is paid then you tube will loose most of the users ..
Netflix do it, maybe YouTube are gearing up to provide a similar service. The have the bandwidth and infrastructure in place, seems like a natural step to take. I'd imagine it will be more for videos where there were production costs involved, not just any old random video shot and uploaded from a phone... but ya never know.
Most people are missing the point...The vast majority of videos will be free and that model will continue. If something is truly of value and the creator wants to charge for that, I'm all for that model. If people are charging for crap, they won't make any money anyway.
You are welcome I even saw videos, both episodes and homemade charging. Now every wannabe movie producer is going to think he or she can become rich by charging people to watch their videos,.. which you can't even preview to see if they are crap.
yes... now youtube must have very good server to acomodate all of the user and video... so they must take money to cover it. I think its normal they do it...
This is definitely not a new function, but it only applies to some selected videos (mostly movies). From a business perspective, it makes sense. Think of it as an online Blockbuster service.
Can you actually download the movie, or are you forced to watch it on Youtube? Because $1.99 is pretty much the equivalent of purchasing something on Itunes, which you can keep on your computer and watch at any time.
This is old news, google all ready made it clear that they are turning into a hulu... its just a matter of time before youtube is about movies, tv and music.. If you look threw the youtube testtube you can try out the music video search engine http://www.youtube.com/disco
YouTube has been sufferring a deficit these years. "YouTube has to bear substantial costs of video bandwidth, and is not given the expected large number of advertising revenue." - quote from http://youtubeking10.blogspot.com/2010/05/youtube-brief-introduction.html
