The Bangladesh government banned some websites including the video-sharing site YouTube after an audio published on those sites from a from a leaked conversation between high-level army officers and Prime Minister of the country Sheikh Hasina during a deadly border guard revolt. The audio includes officers apparently yelling at the premier for her handling of the mutiny, in which at least 74 people -- 56 of whom were senior military men -- were killed. Several sites believed to be hosting the leaked material have been banned, including YouTube and esnips.com.
Well uh that is bad, Youtube has to take the blow, but that's what? 0.5-1% of their traffic? They won't lose much as the soldiers who died. That's simply sad.
God bless Democratic Capitalism. I am so thankful that I don't live in a country that oppresses people, and suppresses information. Lying..yes...misrepresentation...of course. Corruption, sure every now and then, but it is the freedoms to investigate these actions that keep it at bay for the most part, without them, the government can feed the people any old Disney Land bull they want, and there is no way to know any different.
Instead of trying to cure the root of the problem, governments world over are known to shoot the messenger of the problem! The world is getting fast integrated into each other and it would be tough from now on, to suppress the free flow of information... Regards, RightMan
That's just sad. There's gotta be a way though to access YouTube from Bangladesh. There are many talented IT professionals there, i'm sure they will find a way.
That's not cool. Some people in Bangladesh would not get an access on YouTube Videos. That's kind a boring on net.
I am shocked to see how easily ppl believe in something without verifying. This thread is the best example of how Media manipulates out views and ideas so easily. Your care for Bangladeshi ppl is very touchy and as a Bangladeshi I feel like thanking you guys for feeling the pain of Bangladeshi ppl if such thing happened. But the truth is the information this thread is based on "Youtube banned in Bangladesh" is 100% false. I know coz I am a Bangladeshi and at the moment of writing this post I have youtube opened in the other tab that is streaming a video for me. And eSnips is also not banned at all. Besides all that, there was no news in Bangladeshi print or electronic media or even Bangladeshi blogs about this. So I guess the thread starter "Webcosmo" did a wild guess himself or saw a dream. @Webcosmo Man, you should know by now that when you try to inform ppl about something you must give them the source of your info. I am sure you didn't even bother to verify your source yourself. However, the other part of the thread about the conversation between prime minister and the army person being published is quite true but no one knows for sure if that is a fake or not. I know the purpose of webcosmo and the feeling of all the repliers is good and with humanity. So I want to thank all of you guys including webcosmo(just don't believe anything, verify it!).
