Just a little thread on discussing your writing goals for 2009 and to share your writing goals with everyone else, or if you haven't given yourself any as of yet to set your self a little list of aims to head towards... Mine are as followed: - Frequently read a variety of blogs by successful writers. Along with possibly purchasing E-Books that I feel may be of use to me, particularly Jens. As it seems she's offering it at quite a low price while she seems fairly respected on these forums and the comments about the e-book have been very good, so altogether it seems like quite a good investment. It's mainly finding the time to actively read all of these. - Go on a 'professional' one to one writing course for feature writing (or something similar). Probably in the summer when I have a bit more money and time. This one http://www.writewords.org.uk/feature_writing.asp interests me at the moment, If anyone had any past experiences with that website or any of the courses there and could give me some insight how useful they are it would be really good. Also, if you know of any other good one to one writing courses, online preferably, I would be very grateful if you could link me towards it. - Organise and use my time better and more efficiently. - Possibly introduce myself to copywriting, if I find the time. - Hopefully, all of these will improve me as a writer and ultimately increase my earnings. So, what are yours?
1. make at least $300 a week from week from writing good quality articles 2. write faster, quality and grammar perfect content
Great topic! I want to write more for myself this year. I'll be transitioning to full time freelancing in July and hopefully I'll end up with time to take on many more clients while still completing some personal writing projects. Sometimes, I feel like I have such a knee jerk reaction to writing, I want to be able to plot more things out, take my time and enjoy it more. Also, I'd like to attend a writer's conference or two this year.
I have a few writing-related goals this year: 1. To go from full-time client work and part-time writing for myself to only part-time client work and full-time on my blogs, e-books, etc. 2. To publish at least one new e-book in my Web Writer's Guide series (preferably 2 or 3). 3. To finish drafting one of the novels I've outlined (expecting about 70k words). 4. To publish at least one bylined magazine piece this year (all previous print work was ghostwritten for clients and published in trade journals / mags). 5. To flip several sites (some new and some more established). I have other smaller goals, but those are the things I'm most focused on this year.
I have a lot of business and personal goals for 2009. Business -wise, I would like to up my income, and be able to find more time to write. I really think my income would boost if I had more time, but the kids keep me quite busy. I typically sell 15-20 articles a day, 5 days a week for various websites. I think I would like to up that by 5 in the next month or two.
i seriously think this is a really great forum thread with a great topic and some great goals already. if i could add 3. to post quality, helpfull posts on this forum digitalpoint too. thats one on my list
Here are my goals: 1. Increase my client base. I'm taking a different approach here as I would shift my focus from online clients to local ones. 2. Find other income streams for my writing. Let's get real, we can only write so much. Thus, my search for other means of income. 3. Invest in more copywriting books. Although I wish I could say that what I know now comes from my infinite knowledge, much of it actually comes from learning from other people.
1. To learn more about website flipping (I can do graphics and writing, just need to learn how to do keyword research and html coding). 2. To work more for myself, and less for my clients. 3. To learn more about PLR marketing.
1) Write at least one article a day, aiming for 2-3, maybe 4 on sunny days. 2) Find a pattern in my visitor's reading to identify the content they like. 3) Build a repute amongst the internet community, especially the blogosphere and that take me and Pandemix to the top
I agree with you 100% Yolander. Sorry my thing fizzled a bit but it's back if you want it haha. I need to up my output from 5 to 10 articles per day but I have 4 kids and they each seem to have 1-2 appointments or school things each. I also am determined to get at least 2 of my own websites up and running. They are both at 10% completion sitting in my Dreamweaver file doing nothing lol.
I want to have 100 articles on ezine that have gotten 10 hits each for my site then I want to have 1-2 posts a week on my blog that I am about to launch third I want to finish a journal of the things that I have seen and done in my travels around the world
1. Provide my clients with better quality content (and get more clients!) 2. Get at least half way through my dissertation for a Ph. D. 3. Help my wife make more money on her start-up website.
My biggest goal for 2009 is to work smarter not harder. There are littler goals in there too (increase profits, etc) but they all relate back to my major goal for the year.
No Parking! I just need to learn to write continuously without worrying about my language. That's the most effective way. Because copywriting is not about thinking and writing. It should come naturally.
Both copywriting and content writing involve a lot of "thinking" (planning, researching, knowing the market, etc.). Free flow style writing is more a creative writing technique. By all means don't obsess over grammar on the first run-through. Save that for the editing. That said, don't ignore it either - writing may come naturally, but "great" writing doesn't.
And I should also add. Learning from the listening. I always tell my staff. You have one mouth, two eyes and two ears and use them in that proportion. i.e listen and watch twice as much as you speak.
