Come on, we all have them My worst ever one was when I was browsing the domain sales - saw SnowMobileRentals.com sold for $14,000. I picked up the .mobi, not knowing what it was for ( ) and it's still sitting with me now How 'bout you guys?
Haha, I recently was going to setup a site for a chat room through stickam. The name of the chat room was "Goth Redemption" and so I was going to buy "Gothredemption.net"... went to register and forgot the p in the domain... So yeah, stuck with it right now but we compensated with our porn sounding domain "Gothictacos"
Hehe. I once registered the name of a famous Bulgarian footballer (Berbatov) but spelled the first name wrong. So I'm stuck with DMITARBERBATOV . COM & . INFO Also bought Remitee.com thinking it was a word
regged compuware.info, didn't had any clue about trademarks, guess i was a noob too, but i am glad i got rid of it.
newbiemon.com (lol dropped then registered by a domainshark then dropped again) thinking ti sounded cool dildos.com
My worst domain deal was purchasing the ORG version of a trade mark name. That was my early days on the Internet believing I would be able to sell it for millions to the COM's owners. ·
There was a soap on german tv called "abschlussklasse 2003" (trans.: graduation class 2003) and they had a website abschlussklasse2003.de I went to register abschlussklasse2005.de and when the year finally came and the show was still on tv, I got a lot of visitors and ring-tone (cell phone) sales on that website. Lasted about a month until I got a letter from the broadcasting tv-station. They asked for €5000 and the domain. I only gave up the domain tho.
I registered a .CO.UK domain (which I won't name) which it turned out had recently dropped and had been used as a local community site for a small village. A few people from that village got in contact, some by email and some by phone, making accusations that I had "stolen" the domain and one person (proprietor of a local restaurant I believe) demanded I pay the bill from his website developer for removing a link to that domain from his website. I developed the domain, which I was pleased to discover still has some strong backlinks from its previous incarnation, and is doing nicely is Google and Yahoo .
webskate.com back in 97, i thought it wa going to be the next webcrawler.com which was where google came in hahaha
A friend and I were gonna start a site for fun; stinkyunderwear.com except when my friend registered it he got stinkyunderware.com.........dumbass That was back in 2000 when it cost $100.00 to register......dumbass. Anyways, it's long since expired.
I once regged SignUpWithEbay . com ... don't know why I did it as the name made little sense and of course the term was trademarked
I currently have 2 variations of copyrighted names. Bought them without realizing it was illegal, so I have them both parked until I figure out how to get rid of them.
