alright i found a niche i would like to get into, it has a hand full of competitors, one of them is getting 1.1m visitors a month, my question is should i go for the same sites name but with the .net extension? since the owner didn't bother taking it up,that way i would get some of its traffic? or should i aim for something unique?

i do know a big % of his visitors are not coming from Google but most likely social bookmarking and word of mouth...

so what would you do in this situation? go for a unique name thats more brandable or try to cut into someone else's traffic with the .net extension?:D.

Persoanally i would start with a different name and just start attacking the terms!! Don't forget, if you get bigger than your competitor then they will then be stealing business from you!

You are much better off being unique!

    That is my opinion!

Start a new unique id for sure but also take the .net extension of his to get that extra edge over him :)

Taking another sites name with a different extension can only hurt.
