I am trying to increase my rankings on YAHOO serp's. 3 months ago I added specific wild animal pages on my site to provide more content and hoping to get better serp's. Positions on MSN is great, and good on GOOGLE when they feel like indexing all of my pages. All these animal pages are indexed and cached on YAHOO but I receive no results from these newly added pages. I have been adding to directories regularly for links back to my site. When I type in my key words in MSN and GOOGLE I would get the specific wild animal pages within the first two layers of results. If I were to pay for inclusion on the YAHOO directory would that increase my positions in YAHOO for these newly added pages? Is there a sandbox for YAHOO? www. vamoosevarmint. com
Well , on Yahoo the number of backlinks is much more important then the quality of links. Because of that yahoo serps largly difere from google serps. try to put your website on all your forums signatures, mass submiting articles with backlionks to your website, will also help ... just do it the big way ! Take site=wide links! and as in google, try to find pages that got same topic as your website that's all ...
With the vast amount of knowledge here this is all. Please could I get some input on this subject. I suppose if everybody agrees with this one suggestion I can understand not posting. I have gone thru the search things on this forum and did not find an answer that I was satisfied with. I am working on articles and will be submitting them soon. I am submitting to directories on a daily basis. My business is seasonal and would like to boost asap. Dan
I concure that Yahoo does like inbound links. For me I focus mainly on Google and try to keep solid rankings there since they have 60% or more of the market share. Yahoo is a bonus, and I wouldn't want to try to rank better in Yahoo only to lose rankings in Google.
vamoosevarmint, well based in my expeirience..need to focus in good in page optimization together with a good link building strategies..and you will fink your site doing in Y!
I usually find that if i can rank in google, than i am ranking in yahoo. I dont think it is prdent to target one SE over another. I do everything i can to rank on all of them.
Yahoo takes time to update its Search Results. I've noticed it with some of my sites. With a well established site, with more than 6000 back links on Yahoo, getting a position in SERPs is slow. But once you get high rankings in Yahoo, they stay there for long. Also, I don't think getting a directory listing will help in SERPs in anyway.
thank you all. I will spend the money other places and keep using the time and adding more backlinks. That seems to be the most important. again thank you all. Dan
When Google has as big a market share as they currently do then targeting Google seems to be a good plan to me. Yes generally if I can rank well in Google I also show up in yahoo and MSN.
