I have seen alot of articles regarding cookie stuffing and the obvious upside of it getting in more sales and bigger commissions however the downsides of being banned from certain promotions and even clickbank itself.

What are your thoughts on cookie stuffing and if you do it.

Cookie stuffing is abit on the darkside, maybe unethicle, because you may stop other affs getting the referal.

but on the plus side, it will work and make $$$

On clickbank at least other affiliates may notice this and report you, then you get banned. Search blackhat forums, there are a lot of affiliate programs out there that don't care if you cookie stuff. If you're going to do this anyways then these programs make a lot of money if you're doing a lot of blackhat stuff (mostly adult, pills, and casino).

Cookie stuffing is like stealing affiliate commissions and once networks gets to know about it you are banned and all your earnings are gone.

Agreed with wowhaxor. You might not get caught by Clickbank, but it's very likely that an affiliate will report you and get you banned. Just like what happened to that other guy who was cookie stuffing for Earth4Energy a few weeks ago. Someone posted about him in this same section and the next thing you know, he was banned. He was going to get banned sooner or later, lol. I mean, he was ranking in the top 5 for "earth4energy" - E4E affiliates were obviously going to check his site out, backlinks, source code, etc.

I'm sure any affiliate in his right mind would report a cookie stuffer. No affiliate likes to feel cheated by other "competitors".

I guess you could make some good money from cookie stuffing on products with not much competition. You're probably less likely to get caught that way, but I personally wouldn't risk my entire account just for a few more sales. I'd prefer to promote products the right way and not worry about waking up to find my account banned and all my earnings gone.

Im not saying that I am planning on doing cookie stuffing as ethically I think it is wrong if that is the correct word to use. Internet Marketing is can take some time and others may spend days or weeks on a promotion and get their hard earned commissions taken from them due to cookie stuffing.

It's definitely wrong but often somebody may read your page and buy the product later. You planted the seed but somebody else gets your commission. If you stuffed them then you're sure to get your commission. The problem is if you were ever aiming for a sale in the first place.

EBay is suing people for this so don't bother.

I do not do it nor do I condone it as a publisher - If I see affiliates cookie stuffing I will (and have) report them to CB. It's just not a fair tactic. It's an unfair advantage over affiliates who are playing by the rules.

that's not the case with clickbank ... clickbank is the last affiliate gets the sale, so even if you've stuffed but they end up buying it after clicking on anotehr affiliates link, the last affiliate gets the sale

Cookie stuffing(to my knowledge) is where if someone comes on your site they automatically get a cookie with your affiliate hoplink in it(without having to click anything)

Im not against cookie stuffing as long as its not malicious(example:deletes other affiliates hoplinks if a user visits a rival affiliate site)

My idea on it is that if someone visits your site and gets all the information that they need and want to buy the product but they close out of their internet browser/leave the site without clicking your hoplink then they may not get back to your site they may search the product that they want and either buy it directly from the merchant or just get another affiliates hoplink

I dont use cookie stuffing though because im afraid of getting caught

If anyone here is doing it effectively and would like to teach me (for a free $$) I would like to try it out on a network of sites that a friend of mine runs. Over 1 million hits a month should be able to make a buck? Feel free to PM me!
