It wouldnt be "Imran" with his Blackberryking.com is it? Hes stopped since then as he knows hes not getting in .. Period! Dont forget that if your using YAHOO mail then thier filter is causing problems with paypal and directory submission emails so its best that you change your paypal id to Gmail or other and then you will get the notice immediately compared to 3 days later. thx malcolm
This is not rocket science...submitters very well know that they should be paying for a listing. Looks like a few of them are trying to pull a quick one. Don't waste your time with this nonsense and delete the submission. I sometimes get reciprocal link submissions when I don't even give an option for it in the submission page. And, usually the reciprocal link is from some worthless link farm.
I have not received any notice when I got unpaid submission even I have a contact page on my directories. They simply submit and leave. I tried to contact the owners but no email back. Now I wait for 1 or 2 days for them, then delete them. Unfortunately I have not received any payment from all the unpaid submissions.
I learned a couple years back to simply remove the recip link option and form from the submit page if I am not offering a recip link option. Otherwise, you will get quite a few people submitting and not paying, yet offering a recip link genuinely thinking that will get them listed for free. You may even receive nasty emails wondering why their link isn't up after they put a linkback to you on their site.
We never wanted reciprocals as we get our links from other fellow directories and its been deleted from our form but sometimes ill get a few... The other day a guy paid for a "featured review" of his site submitted and offered me a link back to from his site as reciprocal. His site was quality and i could only figure he was a nice guy as the page was cached and indexed with a little juice. But Off Course... You will always have someone thinking that ill place my link on yours and you place yours on mine and spam the hell out off your directory with crap notices sent via emails or the guy that adds you with ten million directories on a page that isnt even indexed or cached and feels he doing something for you ok im done ranting thx malcolm
I am very sorry That was me asking which directory as at that time I was having alot of issue with that directory and normally it shows which directory it came from but it didn't So I am sorry for the problems but at least you can't say I didn't contact you back I just checked my email that I sent you and @ that time I was using my deep link email address on it as I was having trouble
Well, that's an option but I am not sure if that will help much. I mean, i do send payment link in mail (not in notification) but so far no response from any of them. He is one of the other 9 people. Looks like most of us was getting hit from him. Well, I think I will have to follow that approach. But since I am not the one reviewing submissions, time is wasted because of such people.
same i do..i used to get many submitions and when i tried contacting them back no response so i banned the ips and deleted the lists
I'd have to agree (w/out banning the IP). Sometimes even if the site is a quality site and seems like a "legit" submission, the person probably won't respond to the reminder e-mail. Not sure what unintentional reasons they'll be for leaving the payment page and not paying (besides any errors you may have). The person takes his time to submit and then all of a sudden decides to leave? Must be a purpose behind that. And if its a really good site that you wouldn't mind adding for free, then you can always do that as well.
Thats what they want... Sorry im not DMOZ and very rarely do i add any site that was submitted without the review payment as we dont add any listings ourselves and this just opens the door for them to continue thier actions which does not help or serve any purpose for our search engine when it comes time. thx malcolm
I read most, but not all of these posts so I apologize if what I'm about to say has already been covered: I receive several unpaid submissions a week and I've come to believe most are submitted by third party staffers paid to submit a site to free directories. If your directory was on their list to submit to they probably don't even notice that it is paid when they zip in, submit, and zip out. I tried the email thing and never received a reply, which may support my theory. As for banning an IP I think it's overkill. I've never received a duplicate unpaid submission.
Its partly the fault off these "submission services" being ignorant and surviving from the 10 cent per directory submission if not cheaper (cheap labor with poor English skills and lack off categorical knowledge) that care only about spamming your site into as many directories as possible hoping for you to mistake and add. (NOTE: thier really are quality submission services that have high ROI due to them being professional and charge more for submission services and offer much more then free directories for submittions) Another thing that is done is that they buy cheap software like digimax and a few others and simply add a submittion pages from directories pre set with all thier sites info and submit blindly not caring whether they are accepted as they submitted for free and are always caught and rejected and such. thx malcolm
I agree with the last post. Many links are posted by Submit Services. I am aware of at least one that posts to paid websites, without explaining this to the customer. 500 submissions 20 $. The customer then gets many requests for payment and often cannot pay. So sometimes it is just budget SEO firms that do this. If it keeps happening then set the link inactive.
I wonder why these submitters don't bother to pay, since they completed all fields - It's just a waste of their time, if they believe they will get approved by mistake, or something lol. Meti
I get those at my directory as well. Had a semi-auto submitter doing it to me as well. I would get 10+ in a day. I simply delete the submission. They wasted my time once, and I see no reason to chase them down for payment. That would be a further waste of time.
