    I have an anonymous browsing website hosted on a vds using phproxy. The site is down right now. When I asked my host about this, they replied that this is due to Apache reaching maxclients

    Is there any way to avoid this and getting my site up?

    open your httpd.conf change MaxClients to maybe 550 turn off keepalive too
    <IfModule prefork.c>
    StartServers 8
    MinSpareServers 5
    MaxSpareServers 20
    ServerLimit 600
    MaxClients 550
    MaxRequestsPerChild 4000
    </IfModule>

    I recommed Litespeed, www.litespeedtech.com.
    Its better than Apache. It can handle busy networks very easily.
