So, my product's live, there's a trickle of traffic and I have a couple of sales under my belt.. but it's missing something: People need to start writing about it, blogging about it, talking about it. BUZZ. I'd like to experiment with a press release on PRWeb to see how that fairs but I certainly don't want to waste it by submitting something sub-par and I'm struggling for ideas. What I know is I'd like to take advantage of the whole new years resolutions thing and guys getting buff in 2007 to attract women (e.g Let The Muscly Jerk Transform Your Sex Life in 2007). I just can't seem to piece together a good enough idea (or even a catchy title!) for a press release. Uhh. I also plan to send the release to editors at various mens magazines so the idea needs to also appeal to them as well. I'm running real low on creativity - I think I've burnt it out! Anyone got any ideas? Thanks! Pete
i have no idea about the pr but i have to say your website is very nice and incorporates a lot of marketing ideas
How about this one? "Do women prefer muscular men for sex?" Follows an article with your observations, quotes from the book, and newsletter and similar stuff... Bye
Stop worrying about catchy titles for a start. That's for an article; not a press release. A release title needs to make it very clear what the actual news is. The example you gave originally would run the risk of getting banned, b/c it's a blatant advertisement. You need to be careful about that.
I was hoping you would comment jhmattern, I've seen you lay down a bit of knowledge on press releases on here. Right, so if we're looking at it from a news angle - how about a survey, such as '8 Out of 10 Women Prefer Muscles' .. 'A recent survey conducted by musclyjerk.com found that...' - would that be too blatent? I would love some ideas from you. If your services are going at a nice price I could do with someone media savvy helping me out on this product. Thanks, Pete
I actually thought I did before. I must have screwed something up when trying to post. That's much better... results of a survey are worth a release (especially if there are a large number of participants). You could even add the site name to the title without it looking too much like an ad. Just make sure the release gives some data such as how many people were polled, were there multiple questions, just one, etc. Do you know any kind of demographics of who visits the site? Anything like that helps to make the results more legitimate. Next time, have someone help you craft a survey that will collect some of that anonymous demographic info ahead of time. It makes the results more "serious" sounding if it's more than just a poll. But if it's already done, that title works... just be careful not to advertise in the body of the release.
Hi Gadood, Sorry to hijack your thread, but I have a question for jhmattern: do you think my site: http://www.collectionofsouls.com/free.php?id=e3afed0047b08059d0fada10f400c1e5 Would benefit much from a good press-release? Good luck Gadood, and I hope everything happens in the way you wish Lee.
Well that depends on what the news is. If it's just a new site, I'd say no. If it's something that hasn't been done before, then I'd say possibly. If it's a new site, something that hasn't been done before, can be tied to something timely, and would have some kind of mass appeal, I'd say almost definitely.
Hmm thanks for the advice. I think I'll try a press release since I think it will have a mass appeal. It's a very easy way for people to make $100 every month just buy advertising my site virally.
