I'd like your honest opinion, and if you say it sucks, then please state why What do you think of the domain, header, and overall design? And what improvements do you think I could make to attract people to sign up and post? The link is in my sig. (the gamer forum), it's powered by MyBB Thanks.
Bit weird to see a gaming forum with a light style. Don't see that many of them, because most gaming forums use very graphical and dark themes. But like said before, it's a clean design that's easy on the eyes, which is a good thing.
It's pretty decent, I'd say. Though it's always nice to have 3 or 4 templates available for your board since different people have difference choices.
As others have said, it looks good. Nice and clean. One thing I did notice was that when you get a long title for a thread, it can make the Last Post category too wide and your forum looks a little out-of-whack. It looks ok at 1024x768, but at 1280 wide it is off, and it is even worse at 1440 wide.
It looks nice but I would add a little more color because it is a little too white to me. I think you have a good category structure. Good luck.
It looks like you (1) bought it (2) installed it and (3) abandoned it ... if you ask me. This is what I was expecting when I clicked your link, something like: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/index.php http://www.xtreme-gamer.com/forums/ http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/ Side note - as I searched for some forums, the majority are "plain" sites. I actually went through about 20 to find those 3. So, my point it, it does not take much to STAND OUT in the crowd. Get some graphics, get a color scheme, and put news and announcements, suggestions, news, and lounge at the BOTTOM of your forums. Focus on the real content, don't make people search/scroll!
Thanks for the input OneWebAve, I see your point. However, an impressive skin isn't everything, since the PCGamer skin is pretty plain, and they don't even have custom icons. And their site has just as many posts. But I guess for a new site it could make a difference. I'll redo the skin soon.
Graphics aren't everything, but I'll tell you every time I redo a site someone says "Now THAT looks like a site I'd visit/buy from." You don't want to be too crazy, but you can't look like an 8 year old slapped it together. You have to build credibility that you're professional and not going to go down in a few months.
