Hi, DPers. I need your valuable opinions on the images included in the portfolios by designers. My question is: Should the portfolio contain only those designs that the designer won in a contest? In other words, shouldNOT it contain the designs that he/she creates for a contest but unfortunately didn't win in the contest? My argument is those designs(which are not rewarded in the contests) are also the designer's works... and what's wrong in including those designs in the portfolio? I just got this doubt and thought of clearing it with other members. Looking for your views. -chong.
There's nothing wrong with putting a non-winning design in your portfolio. As long as you believe its quality is a good reflection of your talent, then put that design to good use. If for some reason you need to disclose that the design was in a contest, just downplay the fact that it wasn't the winner. Always focus on the positives.
I think you should include everything, unless you thing its not presentable. What some people see as ugly can be beautiful to others. Art is subjective just like appearances.
