Your Opinion on Social Media Links on each page?

With the recent inclusion of site speed into Google algorithm, even though it's not a huge factor, it made us re-evaluate our design. The average page is 100K+ in size. Needless to say we realize we need to redesign the code to keep the bandwidth and load speed down.

As we redesign, we are considering adding one of those "Share Us" box. With one click links so users could facebook us, follow us on twitter, or add that page to their social bookmarks (i.e. Stumble Upon).

    My question for everyone is:

    1. Does this comply with Google guidelines? As I read it, Yes. But what do you guys think?

    2. What are the SEO implications of this? Good, bad, neutral? As I understand it, the increased chance of extra links, makes it a good thing. I ask this just because I rarely see top ranked sites do this.

    Any input is much appreciated.
