After a long delay I'm finally ready to outsource the programming of my directory/community. It will consist of phpLD, phpLD Photo, vBulletin and space for original content. I've got an idea for design and layout and want to have it custom made for my own identity. I got a quote for $1,500, all-inclusive. Does that sound fair? I know the guy does good work and has great customer service, so I'm willing to pay a little more for my peace of mind. Thanks.
A hard question to answer without seeing the quantity of work to be done. This topic was mentioned yesterday in a similar vein, in that ensuring you select people you can trust to do your work is also of high importance to protect any leaks / and or duplication / idea stealing before launch. an0n is one here who can be trusted, mikey1099 and several others ( just can't remember all names ), getting these people or like is important. as for price my guys charge $150 AU$ per hour min, but always put quality over price and expect to pay a little more for it.
The price is OK until you will have very special needs. But you must be sure if hired person is enough experienced to do it all and even more... There are very few that I found good in all phpld, but then I found much more who think they're great while it's preety far from true... - D.
Thanks guys for easing my mind. This is a big wad of money for me to spend and if I didn't believe in the project so much I wouldn't do it. I guess it's a fairly ambitious project, so it seems like I'm really getting a good deal.
Coolweb here does all that at good prices. His work is quality as can be seen in the directory in my signature. $1,500 is a descent amount if high quality is maintained.
So does $1500 also includes a design or only coding ? (like the integration of the all these scripts) If yes, then u really got into a nice deal.
Based on what you say you are getting, $1500 is fair. The real question is if you had to do it yourself, how long would it take (including time to learn each step, install, etc.)? And is it worth $1500 to save you that amount of time?
