    Hello fellow DP members

I recently had my website placed under scrutiny by various sources and with providing criticism , they barely explained to me.

I am very inexperienced and using books , Dp and other knowledge systems i am trying to build my project , with all the guidance i can find.

Now , all that i have been told , is that the website looks really dated.

Can i have some advice, opinions etc on what you may think and what i can do to bring it into the 22nd century.

The website will be around 120 pages when complete, so it's in the early stages.

Google comes back around every third day , so it has be friendly to the giant SERP.

Cheers guys , really appreciate anything you have to offer

    James

The borders and white/grey text boes make it look "boxy" - like an old table design. The buttons look very outdated. A black based design can make a site look dark and ominous. Black can work with the right design, but you might explore lighter colors. I am not fond of the black/blue/yellow titles images - which aren't good for SEO either. Start by spending time looking at all the competition and draw ideas from other professional designs.

The main thing that bothers me is the black background. Backgrounds shouldn't be that dark... I think... :p

lot of images in the menus , also the borders doesn't feel good , big black space in the bottom of the page .
you should also place the editor note in the home page more up , because it doesn't appear when first look at the site , one should scroll down .

The first and foremost thing is that the whole website needs to be consistant in the design. The links lead to pages where the design is completely different to the home page. Mayb you can use a template to help you out? Just search online for some free web design templates. There is no need to waste your time working on a design when you can just alter one that is already made.

You also need a new logo. You can search the wbsites for logo ideas. I guess you can do a search for the best logo designs or something and get some ideas. Are you using photoshop?

    James,

You are off to a good start but there are a few items that may need to be modified.

    1) The banner may be to large, you may want to reduce the size of the banner.

    2) The home page may need more content to fill up most of the empty spaces.

    3) You may want to consider changing the look of your main menu, the current font looks a bit faded at the bottom of each letter.

    Thanks,
    Alex

Nice looking design but with the background on the page, I would increase the text size a little to make it more legible.
