Your first PR?

I was just wondering how you felt when you got your first PR, how much was it, what site was it, how long did it take, and how did you find out. What did it jump to from zero is it possible to get up from PR0 to PR6 in your first update, without cheating or anything special like partners and friends with high PRs.

PS I know it said now that PR is not that important anymore but it's still quite exciting, and really motivating:rolleyes:

My 1st website was the lingerie site in my signature and its 1st PR was 4. I think it got it's PR after being live for a month or two. :)

My first site reached a pr 1 at its first update. In those days I was new to seo and all that stuff. Things have changed a lot since then.

My sites have gone up from PR0 to PR5 at max (though I have had my shares of PR2, PR3, and PR4). This PR upgrade happened upon the first PR update post site-creation. I would say that PR3 is pretty much trivial to get PR4 is pretty decent. PR5 is difficult. All this using the pretty standard link building methods.

First time I learned of PR my site was already 5 and has stayed there for ever more apart from a brief thrilling hop to 6 where it stayed for about 3 weeks, 3 days, 7 hours and 9 seconds. Not that I pay any attention to PR, of course.

I had sites before Google existed. When I first viewed Google, I checked out on of my clients sites and was pleased. Showed the client her company's results in Google, she responded, "Did we buy stock in that company?"

It has been fun watching the progression of the web.

Most of my sites jumped from PR0 to PR2 at first update,

One of my site went to PR3 at first update, and another one PR4,

Everything depends on a variety of factors including how competitive your site is?

If it is more competitive, you will need more backlinks...and so will jump only to PR2 most of the times..

I think on that particular update Google was generous with a lot of sites and then tweaked it back. There were many like mine that were dropped back down again. It wasn't so long ago. At least I can tell myself that I am probably a high 5 :)
