What program do you love to use when writing and why?

I thought it might be beneficial for people to discuss what they use to create and why.

For me, it's Mac's Pages. It's a blend between a word processor and design program.

I can open/export Word files and PDFs in it and I use it to create my e-books, newsletters, feature articles, etc.

Back in the day, before Pages 08 (I used 09 now), I used Word always. If you have a Mac, Pages is actually much better when you learn how to use it.

If I were a Windows user, I'd go Word all the way.

Because I'm an idiot, I think I closed the poll LOL.

Discuss (not me being an idiot). :)

I use Word for my everyday use. I tried using Open Office but Word 2007 have better features that I like.

When I don't want to get distracted, DarkRoom works like a charm. I feel like Doogie Howser writing entries on my diary. :D

I use word. I'm not a Microsoft fan but my main client keeps on asking for submissions in Word. Her preference has made me unable to learn how to use other writing programs

I've been using Microsoft Word for many years now. I use Word to write all my material; articles, books, advertisements and everything else.

Initially, I wasn't very happy with the user interface changes in Word 2007. Now, after using it for a few months, I can't imagine going back to any of the previous versions.

Your poll is working and you can go back to being perfect. ;)

I am a big fan of OpenOffice because of its portability and the fact that it can use Microsoft formats without costing me an arm, leg, kidney, and kneecap. If I just need to scribble a quick note though, it's Notepad (or Notepad+).

I've also been known to use VI, but that's a different story altogether...lol.

I still prefer Word for most of my writing. Went with Office 2007 early this year, hated it, and reverted back to 2003. The new interface was a royal pita.
