    It is really tough to just pick one. But the best thing to do in my opinion is on page optimization and then if you write great content and network you should do fine with links. Quality links that really raise your SEO are usually received by people linking to your great content rather than bought or submitted.

    In on page optimization i like meta tag creation and modification in design for search engine friendly site if needed.

    In off page optimization i like social bookmarking, forum and blog posting. :)
