Hey everyone. I'm going to be purchasing a flash drive in the next few days, preferably a 4 GB one, POSSIBLY 8 but I doubtt I'll need one that big, so most likely 4. I've been searching around Amazon (since I have a gift certificate there) and I was jus wondering, what do you recommend / have yourself? I just don't want to pick out a cheap-o.
I use a Toshiba 2GB U3 drive running PortableApps with Firefox, Thunderbird, XAMPP, FileZilla etc on it. I love it. If you buy any recognizable brand name USB drive, you can't really go wrong. Wow. That's accidentally a photo of this thread
Most of the new Flash drives are very slow about 3-4 MB/s writing speed is a very good result, so it takes too much time if you want to write 4GB...check some reviews to find a flash drive with a good speed. I know some of the Buffalo flash drives have speeds of about 20-30 MB/s, which is great for the actual market.
If you want something cool then i'd get a credit card sized one (fits in your wallet nicely). They do cost quite a bit though. Although, this one doesn't really, i'm not sure if it's credit card sized, probably a bit bigger. But really, normal flash drives don't cost much, the brand doesn't really make a difference.
I have a variety of flash drive brands, one that I think is cool is my one that looks like a Lego. I bought it from Target and it works for me lol, plus I snap 3 of those blocks together.
I jut bought 1GB Kingston flashdrive and I love it. owned another chinese brand of 250mb and it's gone after 2 years of using.
i just have generic ones lying around and they all work fine, but brand name is probably the way to go
