My comeptition have 1425 backlinks (Yahoo says) and me 520 bakclinks. I dont know what else to do. People dont want very much to exchange links. Even when they exchange links, after a couple of months they took the link away. So I think forum commenting could be an awsome way to get fast backlinks for the next Google backlinks update. But im not sure if a backlink from a forum is less improtant than another. My main competitor has a lot of backlinks from blogs and sites. What do u think?? I'm doing well to reach my competitor for the next google update?? thanks!
thanks. but my competitor has a lot of backlinks from sites that are not related to his site bad on you!!! buuuuu
Forum commenting is okay in moderation (like anything else)...the key is to diversify your seo and link building methods. This will serve as a hedge against Google filters and algo changes so that your rankings are less volatile. Put your eggs in one basket like forum commenting and your asking for trouble.
Link numbers are irrelevant when speaking about quality of links. You may have 10 quality links and surpass someone who has 100 links. It's all about relevancy and quality of websites linking to you.
If you are looking for backlins, why not submit articles to places such as ehow... wikihow... ezinearticles... build a few Squidoo lenses and link back to your site... these are all great backlinking techniques without having to ask someone for a link exchange.
Best comment in this thread. Sig links have helped me move client's sites up in the SERPs - but I don't rely on them totally. I have two ppl that write for me and post their articles on EZA, GoARticles, ArticleBase, etc. I do a few Social BMarking as well - then there are press releases...
If not the most effective, forum is surely a very significant medium to promote your sites as lot many members hang out at such places and you surely manage to attract targeted traffic due to high visibility. Regards, RightMan
Although forum coments could be valuable in my experience i have found alot of forums to be nofollow anyway. I would advise using a variety of link building techniques in order to a diversity to your link building and seo stratergy, this will include onsite links, as well as external links from forums and blogs to article submissions and possibly directories. Remeber it is quality not quantity so if you are going to comment on forums at least make sure they are relevant.
Forums as this one are for learning stuff, exchanging ideas, helping people. Yes you can get a backlink but this is not your main goal.
Forum posting is nice but it shouldn't be the only thing you do. You should also post comments on blogs etc and build more backlinks yourself by submitting articles etc.
the key is youhave to check the quality of your competitor's backlinks, not just the number of backlinks. consider in your analysis the PR, the number of outgoing links on the page, or better yet, you must be very familiar with how google calculates the linkjuice.
comment on every blog they commented on also just find an effective way to quickly and efficiently comment on blogs. 1k links should not take too long.
