Seeing as Shawn is getting his built, I thought it would interesting and motivational to hear what you guys and gals would want in your dream house. To start my list of:
    • Games room, must have snooker and pool table and various pinballs machines
    • Swimming pool outdoor but with removable roof and side panels
    • Home Cinema Room
    • Gym, just so I get some excersise
    • A turret, I always wanted to life in a castle :)

    My dream house would have:

    • An ice machine,
    • An office with well designed computer area. I hate tacky sawdust computer furniturre.
    • A craftroom with one long wall with seperate work areas hidden behind bifold louvered doors so you could close off the area and still have room looking good.
An ice machine, not one in refrigerator but a freestanding one.

My dream house would be situated along the Atlantic Ocean with the yachts, cabin cruisers and such going by. It would have the smell of the sea breeze, a rather quite casual atmosphere and friendly neighbors close by.

Oh, that is where I live! :)

And it would be good to get some ideas for mine too. :)

This is some of the stuff that is (or the idea is being tossed around) happening in mine at this point:

    • 10 car garage
    • Home theatre
    • Full gym
    • Sauna
    • Full bar
    • Game room
    • Separate guest wing with own living room, kitchen, etc. (might end up being separate guest house, not sure yet)
    • Couple turrets
    • Zero edge pool
    • Swim up bar
    • Dual hot tubs (one in a grotto)
    • Fiber and 10Gbit ethernet to every room
    • Home automation (touch screen flat panels around the house which can control anything), maybe going so far as in incorporate RFID implants (the implants would also be useful for finding my cats by pulling up a floorplan on the touchscreens)
    • Multimedia zoning (can send any movie to any TV from a central server, or pipe any music to any specific room). If I do the RFID stuff, lights and music could automatically follow you around the house as you move through it.
    • Underground server room
    • Ability to generate ~10 kilowatts from solar electricity

Good Idea, it can become your future home if you ever get in a fight with wife or girl friend. :D

I would just like to get out of my home!

My wife is out of town and forgot to tell me that we're having the garage painted.

    === So I'm trapped!!!!

    Poor Rob....

I actually don't mind being stuck in our garage. It has skylights, windows, and yellow walls, plus a door that opens out to the garden. It also happens to have two computers and a mini fridge. Even though it's detached from the house it only cost us $100 to have it wired into the network. Must be why I work out here all the time. :D

Game rooms are cool, I would definitely want one of those. It's nice to have a place to pull out all your toys (and not have to worry about putting them away). Besides, the full metal DDR pad doesn't really go with our living room decor right now.

Other than that I'd be happy with a huge barn style space with a kitchen on one end. A BIG kitchen with some serious commercial stove cookage going on. Oh, and a subzero fridge. That way I can do some serious catering for our parties...which would be out on the removable wall room/courtyard/1 acre garden. heh

It's all about the parties baby.

I'd also like a heli-pad and an onsite prison for the outlaws :)

Wow, I didn't know what a "zero edge pool" was, but found a nice place in San Diego that does them. That's a very cool pool.

The RFID would be pretty sweet. I'm sure the cats would love it... ;)
Would visitors just require an ID card to carry around to adjust to their preferences?

Shawn, you should see about getting black or dark blue tiles in the pool.

My dream home would be self sustainable, or as much as you can get.
    - Solor Panels
    - Rain Water collection
    - Have a huge garden for growing all our food
    - Preferably by the ocean or thermal pools (new zealand) :)
    - Built partly underground
    - Lots of natural light
    - Room for a bunch of animals to roam. not in the home :p
and of course a nice computer area :)

Damn Shawn .. you put me to shame. We've been meeting with architects for a few weeks about our custom home we are due to start work on.

    - Only 4 car garage, not 10.
    - No turrets
    - No smarthome stuff

Coolest thing we have going would probably be the 1000 sq ft pool with the automatic cover. Though, I'm guessing yours must be 2000 with an automatic roof system and wave/current controls
