Hello all - Newbie here :D

I'm compiling a list of free inclussion directories for clients to submit to, and WOW there are a TON!! I am browsing the forum and reading all the discussions about the directories. Great stuff!

I've used the Digital Point tools for months, but finally decided to check out the forum - WOW!!

    Anyways -

Are there any particular directories that come highly recommended by forum posters..? Any to avoid..?

My clients range widely, so industry specific directories AND generic directories BOTH are focused on in our recommendations. - so I'm looking for both types.

    well, hello you too :)

(I still prefer to be in DMOZ - even if it's not easy, and annoying and what have you :D )

Yeah - the DMOZ process can be cumbersome for some of our clients. I'm trying to collect the easy - DIY inclussion directories for the 'less savvy'.

hehe I see a trend growing here...soon the internet will just be a series of interlinking directories of directories of directories infinitum.

    ;)

Yes. The Web started as a bunch of interlinked websites. Lets coin the phrase DWeb as a series of interlinking directories of directories.

You may never hear of it again but if you do, you heard it here first.

CanadianEh: I have the first Dweb. This Dweb is 5 sites. You can submit to any of the following five sites and when you can choose the basic 1 main link 5 deep links for $9 or you can go to the advanced which will add your link to 4 other web directory site that I am networked with. The site you submit to will submit the full submission including the 5 deep links to the other 4 directories and then all you have to do at those other 4 directories is select the category you want it to go in.

    And here are the site...

    www.beaconpost.com
    www.directorymarker.com
    www.houndit.com
    www.seedirectory.com
    www.wizdirectory.com

I also will be anouncing shortly a web app that will allow you to submit to up to 30 pay web directories and up to 100 free web directories. Fully automated. You may your payment for the ones you choice and those that don't add you you get a refund for.

I will show the protocol here some time with in the next 2 weeks if you like.

There just may be a market for what you are offering. Anything that reduces the submission time required will have a market somewhere.

Here is another idea for you. A Dweb data standard that would allow you to transmit directory entries in a standard format. Maybe you have already thought of that with your automated submission app.

CanadianEh: Well the only way to setup the system as far as I can see is to summit by email with a link in the email where the editor of the web direction clicks on and checks accepted or declined and that posts the URLs for the links you have been give.

The idea of making everyones categories match will not work because of duplicate data issues.

I hadn't thought as far as categories. I was just thinking of a "standard" for common data. The kind of thing where a bunch of people get together and agree on a common way of doing things (like ANSI, rss).
