Well www.h-log.com was there for about a month or so, till someone found out i was running http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/ and boom cause of jealousy and other personal reasons editors might have had it was removed just like that.

So how much credibility does dmoz has is the question to be asked.

Trying can be a pain, I think that we should not try too hard. If someone gets in it, great. If not, then not. I myself have some sites in and others I would not even bother trying with.

DMOZ is a frustrating mess. In the past some of the Editors were corrupt. Took money for links' position. That issue is supposedly cleaned up now. The problem with Dmoz.org now isn't the character of the editors, its the lack of editors. So many categories have old/not maintained sites listed/broken links in them and with no eiditor for the category. Have you ever applied to be an editor on Dmoz.org? They want perfection in their applicants. I guess there is no training program for rooky editors. You have to arrive already a fine editor or you wont get in. I have tried to apply before. Each time I was shot down. The categories I applied to, still have no editors, and going on 4 years now. It makes you wonder what the folks at Dmoz.org truely have priorities for. You would also think, in 4 years they could have trained me to be as good an editor as they have. I guess they would rather not have folks like myself, who would relish becoming a good editor for Dmoz.org, even if I had to be trained through their programs to become one, rather not have us work for them. I would do it. I can not be the only one who has motivation and desire to become a Dmoz.org editor and fix the problems of categories with broken links, with antiquated links, with links which have not been maintained or updated in 5 years, which still have top 5 ranking in category listings. The stuff which makes most of us who wish to get a link indexed into Dmoz.org roll our eyes and fuss in frustration, when we see what links are in Dmoz.org, are linked in the top ten, and wonder why they are, when they are broken links, or links from sites which are no longer maintained, etc. Even though, with all the above said, Dmoz.org still has a huge draw and is popular. It has tremndous value on the internet. Even when you are so Angry at the Dmoz.org staff of editors, you still need your site listed there and hopefully in the top ten listings with a reasonably accurate description. I have submitted my new Directory to Dmoz.org. I submitted my site to Dmoz.org first before I marketed my site anywhere else or took any other steps. I know at best, it will be 6 months before a Dmoz.org editor reviews my site. And probably 8 months before my site shows up in the listings. That's best case scenario and then, if at all. I also know that from May of 2007 until December 2007, I will hope I get listed by Dmoz.org. It's that important. I have learned one thing over the years in promoting websites, don't let my personal feelins or emotions cause me to use poor judgement. Dmoz is to important to get mad and quit trying or do something to get your site or even your Name banned by Dmoz.org's Editors. just my 2 cents worth.

Omg you should have not done that, never post site urls here listed at dmoz, dmoz + dp + ursite url = trouble.

First of all your site is hosted in US, Second of all your directory has mostly worldwide info nothing too specific related to india, so i do not see why it should be even listed at Regional: Asia: India: Guides and Directories: , cause its not dealing with INDIA at all.

So sorry to say but i think your directory is not gonaa last long :( if editor or meta finds your reply.

My login ID was disabled at dmoz as I did not make edits given that I hardly had anything to edit in my category. secondly they wont allow you to take up other categories which may or may-not have appointed editors!

I was listed in DMOZ for years as a Web Design and SEO Firm. When I changed the format to a phpLD directory, they got rid of me...
I have mixed feelings about DMOZ, most of it is bad....

What are you talking about? There is no ranking in ODP other than where a site might be cooled which is frowned upon in most categories. All links are listed alphabetically in any given category. It's automatic.

IIRC there is option to group listings into three groups and then you can set which will be at the top which at the bottom, not bad if you want to separate official from fan websites and place reviews on the bottom, but I have rarely seen this used.

Get mad, DMOZ is not important if you are any good at SEO. It is just one more link, nothing more. The evidence is contained in the existence of top ranked sites never listed, and listed sites with PR0. Or don't get mad, it isn't worth getting het up about.

Yes, whole websites with PR0 are listed in DMOZ for at least two years, still PR0. Sure did a lot of good, haha!

A so-called SEO that thinks a DMOZ link is money in the bank, in 2007, is deadly funny! A knee-slapper.
