Your best phrase... or how competitive is it?

In terms of competitiveness, what is the best term you have that you are able to maintain on page 1 of the serps? You don't have to give away the term or phase, just let us know how competitive it is.

For me, it's a term that I began working with when the competition was only 210,000 pages, now it's up to 2.7 million and I'm still able to retain position 1 on page 1. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think getting positioned early helps. For example, it would have been far more difficult for me to get the #1 spot had I began with 2.7 million instead of 210,000 but since I hit rank early, it's much easier to retain it now. Has anyone else had any experience with this?

I work on small local SEO projects for friends, but most of the terms are easy, esp when tossing in the name of the county. I often wonder how others manage to compete with "monsters" like the word advertising for example (half a billion)!

If you have a "monster" out there under your management, do tell how you manage to compete with the others.

When I owned www.nowthatshumor.com a year or so back I held the 2nd position for around 6 months and earned over $200 a day via Google Adsense, very rarely did I hold the #1 position.
