    2. Prioritising the To Do list - at the beginning of the week I assign one top priority task to each day, then of course I add tons of others which mostly don't get done, but the top priority tasks DO get done :)

I agree. Building links can be a very tidious process and you may not see the benefits right away. But it'll pay off at the end.
    Patience is the key.

    1. Be VISIBLE. The first rule of marketing is that if you're not where someone is looking for you, then you can't be found. Or is that the second rule of marketing?

    2. Figure out what kind of "honey" you need to attract your "flies". If you're not sure who your customers are and where they hang out when they want someone like you or your site, then it'll be hard to lure them to you. Study your potential clients until you know exactly what will motivate them to come to you.

    3. Once you get them to come to you, KEEP THEM. Make sure all your messages are aligned to keep the customer under your spell for as long as possible. Don't annoy them.

    4. Start with a budget and never decrease it unless you're too successful. Many people swap time for money in their budget and that's fine as long as you set targets and keep to them or increase them if your marketing isn't working as well as you want. Decreasing marketing should only happen if you're wildly successful or you're going out of business.

Patience is the key. Specially when its the first site to work with, people get frustrated easily. But hard work always pays off.
In my opinion budget is a variable thing. I spend sometimes 700-800/month, sometimes 150/month. As I learn new things I do experiment with that, since I don't have a Guru but dp members :) So budget is adjusted according to what I experiment with. Sometimes with something I learn new, brings better results with low price. Sometimes I spend $300 for yahoo directory.
At the end its really amazing seeing the work appreciated, and becoming useful to lot of people.

I'm not trying to get off subject here, but have you had good results advertising on radio. I have had a slight fascination with beginning a radio campaign, but have not had the guts to do it just yet.

Anyway, my successes have been with seo, social bookmarking, link building, and utilizing servers with separate class c ip's.

    best marketing advice truly?

in the beginning? learn how to establish residual income without a website.
once you can do that, you can do anything.
so when you finally do start a webste, you'll monetize that sucker faster than parrot talk

my sayings make no sense :]

Keep your content as natural as possible. Don't write content for the Search Engines from Day One. You will never be satisfied with the content you produce this way. Just write your content naturally and add it to your website pages. Users will start coming and also the spiders.

    the art of the presell

dont just say buy this its good, people are always asking WIIFM what in it for me? if you can't answer those questions, the who what when why and how then dont bother coming out to play.

The better you can do this and the better you copy is, i.e. use emotional catch phrases that more money you will get.....

Build trust, build credibility and you will make more sales that you ever dreamed imaginable.

Word of mouth. Give your customers/visitors what they want. and give them a reason to tell their friends.

Something that once somebody reads/uses it, they don't know how they ever got along without it (in regard to your business.)

Great advice, but how do you do this.

I think its great advice to have an income you can rely on offline so that you are not pressured online.

Since the title of this post is 'Your Best MARKETING Advice', I would say

First, find a hungry market with money to spend.

Although this may seem obvious, in practice I see thousands of people who
are married to their product or service, that they promote like devils to a
    market that doesn't want it.

    Beginners mistake number one.

    Just my 2 cts.
