Mine has been straight out paid advertising. It requires the littlest maintenance and a little bit of funds to get it going and test out the waters, but overall I have been very pleased with it. You just have to make sure that you are advertising in a place that actually has legitimate visitors (a good indication is that it might be worthwhile is if there are numerous other paid advertisers on the site, or you have visited the site yourself just for information, you know others probably are too). Don't hesitate to negotiate the price regardless of the size of the site. Also, keep track of your ROI using Google Analytics or other software. In the event that you aren't getting a ROI, you should contact the webmaster of that site about it to renegotiate a proper price, or cancel and go elsewhere. Not every place is a winner.
I will prefer social submission because its good in small scale and we don't need investment . I am getting good traffic from different sites like digg , entrecard and stumble .
I get good, targeted traffic from google because I have optimized my sites for important keywords and I give more importance to contents with human visitors in mind. Apart from search engines, article directories like ezine take care of the rest in sending traffic
Yeah this post is kinda like "tell me all your successful marketing techniques so I can copy them and saturate the market some more"
My best traffic method I will not share. Like wwwyatt says, doing that will simply saturate the market. It is not even worth writing a book about it and selling it. In the long term it can only hurt.
I know a lot and I only do what is effective... I don't copy whatever you say effective for you but not for me... you can copy mine if you want but I am not interested in yours..
My will be social Bookmarking sites. The thing is that my traffic was not that great at the beginning. After few months of active "socializing". The traffic grows because more and more people know you and everytime you post an articles, you will get good traffic.

In terms of free methods, I have found that Yahoo Answers works well for me as well. But article submission is still the best. My articles on Ezine get 10 to 20 views per day with between 10 and 30% visiting my website. It is also important to be consistent with this method as you develop a bit of a readership on these databases.
