You Will Not Convince Me That Only Backlinks Count In PR

    Hi,
I suppose this is the best place to post this message as it will involve some reviewing from your side :D

Now, everybody says PR is only about backlinks (at least all the variations of PageRank forumulae you keep coming up with suggest that). I would like to disagree and I will also back my theory with some examples.

    Example 1: https: //www. amazon.co. uk/gp/seller-account
How can this password protected area of Amazon have a PageRank of 4  Take any tool to check for seller account's backlinks and you'll see that it has no incoming links. Zero, nada, zilch!

Example2: I will not disclose the address publicly, however, you can PM me if you want to see this. I got this client and he launched a web-site two PR updates ago. It is a nice site with 480 incoming links which is not bad for a new site. The PR0 came like shock to me when I saw this.

But that is not the end. He has this section where he sells stuff and this section, despite having only 14 inlinks from a single third party high-PRanked site, is PR3.

And now cometh the final blow to your theory. I had a site with PR3-PR4 throughout. Regret, no chance I will disclose the URL, but... The story is that I had other projects comin' up and forgot about the site, i.e. I did not update it and several pages were turned from good content to Under Construction. Althought the number of backlinks during this year of stagnation didn't change, I "enjoyed" a drop of PR down to 0 :( No worries, however, as this was a hobby page making me no dough.

Now several months ago I decided to give it another go and started to update the old Under Construction pages, adding coole texts and pics. Remember that the number of inlinks didn't change. Voila, the homepage regained PR4 and subpages, although struggling, mostly are back to PR2.

Now tell me, why GG granted me PR4 if I have neither increased or decreased the number of incoming links? Well, any ideas? I would like to hear your oppinion. :)

It is because you never know if someone link to your sites?
And maybe because of the domain is an age domain.
The SERP will help you a lot to determine the PR itself
