You will find this funny, but it worked to bring in traffic.

I did this on accident, but found out it worked. I made a thread on my forums and spelled awesome "awsome" and the thread was about "awsome backgrounds for your desktop.

I guess my accidental spelling error is one a lot of people make. I'm gotten 300+ searchs that lead to my site in the past month for

"awsome background"


Just to show you, go to google and search "awsome background." The first thumbnail image result is my desktop background I posted in the forums. So the #1 image for awsome background was the desktop image i posted on my forum.


Accident turned into a positive, thought you guys would find that intersting.

Nothing funny since there is a big industry (domain registrars, software developers, etc.) for misspelt words.

Thanks for letting us know of the point. You are right and sometimes the misspellings might look like natural good keywords used for promoting websites and this can help with their increased rankings many times accidentally.

That would be a good example that maybe if you can not rank for your keyword due to the competition... perhaps you will have better luck with the misspelled one.

The google keyword tool reports that approx. 8,100 searches are made per month for "awesome background" while only 720 were made for "awsome background". It also shows you may do even better by adding an "s" with 14,800 searches for "awesome backgrounds" compared to 1,900 for "awsome backgrounds"

 

Have you also noticed that when a word is being misspelled, Google would suggest, right there on top of the page, the correct word or phrase. A searcher may hit that Google's suggested correct spelling.

Ya that's true! The Misspell is another technique for getting more traffic and also its a psychological way to market.

Google shall also affect your ranking later. You should be very careful in using this technique...

misspelled words sometime are funny , I didn't tough too about this until recently ... I just wanted to try one wb plugin which is scrapping videos from youtube , under the plugin is the option to search about keyword based videos from mistake I spelled one word too and I hit the button , was added one video , I corrected the mistake since I figured it with 2-3 days ... but the first video added now is getting me like 500-1000 + per month hits per month ... only that keyword misspelled lol
