I was reading Webiz Today, a great web marketing blog that I am sure some of you visit, and searching through the archive when I cam across an article on how to advertise/market and get traffic from YouTube Videos.

It is a very interesting article and I am going to try it making a video for my site. Have any of you tried it?

The article can be found here http://webiztoday.com/wordpress/?p=9.

google video as well. a friend of mine nailed 200k + hits in a day by posting a video entitled "steve irwin stingray death video".

Not neccessarily morally sound, however it did work extremely well for driving traffic.

Yes there have been dozens of fake ones going around - but you can get a to of visitors without doing something like that?

Agency.com did a viral marketing project using YouTube. Kind of a cool thing to do.

Search for something like, "agency.com subway" in the video search. There are a couple of parodies so try and find the oldest post of the video, that should be the original, it has somelike like "Part 1" in the title.

You Tube looks like a great traffic generator if you can produce stupid or funny amature quality videos. There seems to be an insatiable appetite out there.

Here's our first. A parody of the "Happy Feet" Little Mumble clip.

Just create a video with your digital camera and mention your web site and then get it on your comp. and upload it to Youtube

I use U-tube and Google video to promote one of my sites. So long as you brand your video well with your URL, people tend to find your site.

Stupidvideos is another good service to try--it's harder to get a video up there, but once you do you can easily get 100,000+ views.

Anyone else keep typing in "mytube" instead of youtube? I don't know why I keep doing that, but it sounds like a better name anyways.

Our first observation is that you need to add a link to your website at the end of your videoto drive traffic there. Windows Movie Maker makes this pretty easy.

Second, the viral qualities of YouTube only seem to kick in if you can initiallly drive at least a couple thousand viewers to your vid the first day. we accomplished this with a link on our home page for the single day. Onece the video has been viewd a couple thousand times it gets recognized as a "most viewed" in one of the YouTube sub-categories.

We are now seeing 1000+ views/day with the plug for our website in the video.

I expect the viewer count will grow virally as more people comment and link to the video.

YouTube looks like a great alternative to MySpace marketing once you've got the logistics figured out.
