You Still Promoting Your Website On Directories???

Submitting to directories is one of the basic steps in link building and while google might frown upon such practise, I doubt that it will fade away anywhere soon.

 

Directories are still O.K.

 

I personally think that directories are past.

But, it still easiest way to get long term backlinks

 

yeah they really fading now . Even paid directories aren't much helpful these days .

 

You are right. It is still the very easy way to receive backlinks. But without quality backlinks means nothing..

 

if you want the quality backlink, please submit with unique description and title.... and also do not spam keyword on your submission.

do you think search engine only GOOGLE? please open your eyes, there have a lot search engine out there.. why you need to worry about that? google just play they own game... because they want people to buy they product (adwords)

did you know google also hate dofollow link?

I agree, i have heard the same rumors and i believe they might be true. I would never pay to be in a directory.

But what about free directories? I think these are even worse, most are overwhelmed by spam and random links, just look at a directory i stumbled across a few days ago, pixel-links.com, this directory is free and clearly does not regulate the submissions, wouldn't google look at something like that as even worse?

 

Directories might not add much in google but they definately make your website easier to find for other search engines and people looking for content that your website is offering.

 

if you want the free directory.. there have a lot out there... but you must beware about directory that have a lot pending link, also take a look they listing before you submit... because some of them have a lot spamming keyword that the google very and that we will claim link farm...

 

Well we all know google hate do follow links.. But The question I want to ask is do we have a choice to google's Products.
We have no choice when it comes to search engine optimization it google, google, and google
We have no choice when it comes to adsense. It is adsense, adsense and adsense.
We have no choice when it comes adwords too

Google gives us the quality mate.. We have to agree and optimize for them

 

even if they give us quality that does not mean they need to monopolize and once google realized; it cannot be the only search engine; it when into other ventures to create profit.

remember to use other search engines like altavista and such to give google some competition so it keeps increasing it's quality.

 

hmm...maybe I should rethink all the time I was going to spend submitting my brand new blog to directories. Thanks for the heads up. I'm kind of out of the loop being new and all.

 

Directory submissions have always been an important part of link building and will continue to be so.

Google does recognise them and even if they where to not count them anymore you still have Yahoo and Msn that both count these links.

 

The problem with your point of view is that Msn and Yahoo are not leaders. They are followers. They may have a strong base but not like google.

The point I am making with this thread is it is high time directory owners begin to realize their mistakes. They out of greed to make money let this happen.. Today every website could aspire to be in top 5 or 10 if they can pay an amount.. We have to look for quality.. If the quality cannot be provided then the whole point of search is useless. Directory owners must find a way to improve the quality of the listings..

Here again we are blaming google when it does something to improve the quality of the results.. If you are searching for something online you want to see the related results. If not we blame search engines..

 

I think that the quality of the site is imperative and that things done to simply increase rankings without a correlation to solid, meaningful content based on the keywords is a practice that will only lead to short term results. There is no secret to success, hard work always leads to it. Shortcutting methods may work for a short time or even a long time, but eventually they will not work at all. Sometimes it takes many years for people to realize that fact, yet it always comes true in the end.

There is no secret to my success in my web sites.

 

I agree with topic creator. I have never seen any backlinks from directories yet !
