Well, like the You Should Not Start A Directory If... topic, I thought that being a directory owner, people must have some "You should not submit to a directory if..." ideas like my ones listed below. If you have any just simply continue on and remember that the start of the line is "You should not submit to a directory if..." 1. You believe a driving school website should be submitted to the "Computers & Internet -> Drivers" category. lol 2. You believe a website title like "Learn Engglish" is perfectly ok. 3. You think that submitting 10 websites that all look the same and have the same titles and description but have different URLs will actually be accepted. 4. You think that submitting a sponsored listing that will cost you money is a good idea and then don't pay for the listing. 5. You are a program!
Hello... Yes we just luv #3 The worst ones are those that buy different domains (same niche) with the ugliest + cheapest "same" templates then submit them all to the same category. Evidently they dont realize that we can view the sites homepage thumb in our admin and they have a snowballs chance in hell of getting in free or paid laterz malcolm
Well my first thought on your list is it belongs under the thread of you should not start a directory... IE you should not start a web directory if you don't want to EDIT number 1, 2 and 3 are part of being an editor - 1. find the right category 2. correct the spelling 3. reject them 4 and 5 well yes they are a pain - but still reject them.
Well yes that's true, I'm just curious to see what funny/stupid/rediculous submissions directory owners like myself are getting, for example I got number 1 today and I just started laughing... So if anyone has any funny/useful ones to add, go for it
You're going to cry and whine if they reject you or don't approve you (dmoz style) You're going to send the paid directory owner abusive emails to proove your immaturity, because you paid for a review and didn't get listed. You're going to try a paypal chargeback because you're too retarded to read that paid review is different from a paid listing. You can't read that top categories do not permitt submissions. You can't read any of the other submission guidelines.
I read a tips for seo that talk: Use many anchor text when you submiting to directory. It's mean: I use Title1, Title 2, Title3 for directory1, directory2, directory3 but one domain: abc.com That's right???
READ THE SUBMMISIONS RULES lol for appleiphone NO!it means use title1 to directory1 and title2 to directory2!
You should not submit if: You still have "under construction" anywhere on your website. Your content or information website has less than 10 pages of useful articles/news/whatever. You think adverts count as content.
You Should Not Submit If: 1. Your website design inspiration came from the bottom of a bird cage. 2. Your website says “Site Build It†on the bottom and looks like thousands of others. 2. Your product or service is a scam! “Make a million this year for only $29.95â€. 3. You call your link site a directory but have no content. 4. You age significantly waiting for your website to load. 5. Your title is composed of anchor text. 6. Your description is a string of keywords. 7. You’re using your grandmother’s credit card without her consent to pay for submission.
7. You’re using your grandmother’s credit card without her consent to pay for submission. Yes I had that one, except PayPal reckoned it was a Business debit card. Some employee is about to get fired for unauthorised use hehe
The ironic thing about this thread is it's the directories which accept the guidelines given which gain your own directories SERP's. Don't believe me? Visit www.Google.com
If you fail to enter a valid E-mail address which causes the directory owner to get the bounce-back. Just a slight addition to the good comments posted already, especially stoner's.
i had noticed that not every high pr directory sends confirmation emails, and this results in a mess, as clients complain of getting less confirmation emails and sometimes they do believe that we had not made adequate submissions.
8. If the directory owner ask for register without showing you the available submissions types (and prices) before. 9. If the directory doesn't show any sign of be frequently updated, or if its last addition was done 2 or more months ago. 10. If the directory is running under the same IP and sharing its database with many other directories. (undesirable networks) 11. if it's a PR5 and paid only directory with only 1 indexed page at Google. 12. if it's a reciprocal directory which ask for a link or banner in your homepage and offer a despicable link as exchange. 13. if the directory owner doesn't offer seo friendly links. 14. if the directory was released as alternative to domain parking.
Most reputable directories regardless of page ranking send submission responses. Unfortunately the responses are frequently caught in network or the individuals spam filter.
15. Directories are shit 16. Directories are useless 17. Directories make no money or very little 18. Directories get penalised easily 19. Directory owners are liars and cheats 20. Directories should go away and die.
you should not submit to a directory.. if it asks for a CC number or SSN number if you notice a lot of racial sites if Zango pops up over and over if they offer free adult content! well maybe you can 0o if you notice a warning from your antivirus software saying "Trojan:/C Reformat" if the site has 4000000 links
