Ran across an article today when I was doing some backlinking. Here it is: http://www.marketingpilgrim.com/2009/05/are-you-breaking-the-law-with-social-media-marketing.html You can interpret this as (and tell me if I'm wrong): If you are working for a client and this person is paying you money to build back links...and let's say you have an account on StumbleUpon, Digg, or BackFlip - and you bookmark your client's website. Then you proceed to leave a description about how wonderful your client's website is because he has product abc. You might be breaking the law. Just read the link and tell me what you think.
Yes, the social bookmarking site are banning people for self promotion as this is not the intended use of the sites. People need to be careful.
hi i work in search markiting in the uk and i can say it applies here to. Technically yes you are breaking the law (and could even go to jail!) however, these laws are meant to catch the big players. They are supposed to stop, for example, a mobile phone operator going online and giving themselves amazing reviews to trick customers. So you'll never really have any issues
if not self promotion why would people submit and waste their time. Digg etc should hire full time employee then
