You may lose your commission if you didn't place 1x1 impressions tracking image!!

I have doubt on CJ sales tracking accuracy because my sales was dropped without apparent reasons. I shoot them email to ask question regarding their tracking accuracy. and here is their answer

Their answered made me shocked a little. I always understand of 1x1 pixel image is using for tracking impressions purpose only. That's bad if they use this for based trigger for set up cookies because many publishers had modified by remove that image and replace with their own url (redirected) to prevent visitor seeing affiliate which embedded directly within URLs. Please don't forget to place 1x1 pixel image or you may lose commissions due to cookies set up problem.

if that is the case how about those keyword links. There is no 1x1 image encoded there.

    That information is not correct.

CJ may be setting their own cookies for whatever reason, but, it has nothing to do with tracking of eBay purchases.

Once a user clicks on your link and is forwarded to eBay, whatever CJ has set is irrelevant. eBay cannot read any cookies not set by their own servers, they set their own cookie based on your affiliate ID thats passed in the URL.

Its clear now that we can still earn more with our niche stores.

I find that extremely hard to believe. Tracking is done through the link code, not the image.

Yes, It's hard for me to believe either because my sales were tracking properly without using any 1x1 pixel image and then all my sales suddenly dropped without apparent reasons, even my site got a lot more traffics from targeted keywords organic results via Google, Yahoo. I shoot mail them asked question regarding this and they claimed about 1x1 pixel image which used to set up cookies may cause the issue. All message I pasted come from them directly every bits, no modification made except remove my real name out. :)

I have experienced that when I had no image the conversions were lesser. I agree with Sxperm.. there is something to look into!!

The only way this could be true is if CJ was not honoring some transactions if you don't have impressions, nothing to do with tracking cookies as its eBay who tells CJ who earned what.

Like I said in another forum, that information is incorrect. You do not need that 1x1 image in text links.

how about adding your site to the profile? someone mentioned that if you don't add a site that you are promoting CJ offers on, you won't get paid for those.

Thanks for the heads up, i asked about tracking the other day how it was tracking clicks but not impressions. Having a 1x1 px image can't hurt i guess!

Which 1x1 image are you supposed be to be using anyways? If you are displaying 20 ebay items per page, do you really want the 1x1 loaded 20 times?

    Hi Sxperm,

Maybe you can email them again and ask them about keyword links. Obviously there are no 1x1 images in them so what is the basis for their cookies in those kind of links. I'm curious to hear their reply.

    Thanks.:)

That's incorrect (search marketing is an example that disproves that theory).

This might be a little bit off subject...

But, what if you use the email CJ link? How is that tracked? Wouldn't it just be easier to use all email links within you website?

I think that part you highlighted in red refers to banner ads and not the 1x1 image used to count impressions
