I am thinking of starting a full fledge blog but not too sure which topics I am going to focus on. Before I start, I like to know what kind of blog are likely visit?
I guess you should start to blog about a topic that you are interested in. There's no point starting a blog that you will force yourself to produce the contents.
Hmm, starting a blog on topics that are new to the blogger is kind of cool IMO. Since you get to learn some new stuff though the bad part of it is if you really became interested into the topic you end up researching that particular topic and forget to blog about it
you've been to http://dvorak.org/blog ? If you go there you'll notice that this blog has it all. Gadgets/tech/entertainment and even politics. But I have to tell you that it is really hard to maintain such blog. That's why I don't recommend you to do more than three categories.
I'm most likely to read about entertainment from that. What I usually read isn't listed. I read blogs about making money online, SEO, and the like. I also read websites about fish and aquarium keeping, my favorite hobby. That's me.
I read a variety of blogs just on the topics I'm interested in. I'd agree with the comment above, make sure it's a topic you know, otherwise you're gonna spend too much effort and time trying to find content and could burnout.
I'd say go with what you like ! There's no point forcing yourself to write about a subject you don't know nor are good at. I read some blog more than other: 1) Personal blog of people who have something to say 2) Culture blog 3) Political blogs But I can also link and read to a tech blog, a money-making blog if the author is good and entertaining ! I'm quite tired of people who start tech/money-making/template blogs and don't know anything about their subject. Stop being a follower, be a leader !
