I believe Colin did it right, he said why and he said nice things about both, and laid it out clear and he's a very powerful man and he is well respected because of what he did.

Nothing wrong with endorsing Obama. To those who think about Racism probably contribute to it.

There is nothing wrong with Powell voting for Obama due to racism. A person can vote for a candidate for any reason and race is as good a reason as any. It's quite amusing the reasons listed in this forum to justify voting for Obama.

Only he knows for a fact why he voted, not you not I. So pressing race on someone is a stupid assumption cause you don't know for sure. As far as what he said, it didn't sound racist at all so I'm not quite sure where you pulled the race card at.

Race is a stupid reason to vote for someone.

Biz hates Obama, because Biz is a racist, from my assessments of virtually every post that I have seen on this forum. He will leap to anything, so long as it helps him to justify his worldview. Powell decidedly did not endorse Obama for racial reasons, his reasons were clearly explained, but it will never reach the minds of some.

Biz once said the only thing Obama is qualified for is to be a janitor, all his others posts on the subject are in line with the same ignorance, and nothing can change a mind like that.

Bogart, I accept this. I don't agree with the comparison to Carter, but I understand your reasoning and can respect the position.

However, I'd like to clarify where you stand, because in the past, you were among those most vigorously asserting that Obama was likely a Muslim/terrorist plant/traitor/black nationalist, etc., and it would seem to me that Powell's endorsement for someone who was these things would pose a problem.

Your first post indicated race was a factor in Powell's endorsing Obama. In other words, one of the reasons Powell endorsed Obama, in your opinion, is because they share the same race. You linked to and excerpted from an article that turned out to be false, as shown.

Do you still believe Powell endorsed Obama, at least in part, because they share the same race? If so, on what basis?

I hope you are joking, PHP. And if you are, call me a schoolmarm, but I don't find it funny, actually.

He is also and has been a devout Republican. So yes it is a surprise. An October surprise at that :D. When he didn't come out and endorse Obama early in the campaign I figured he'd made his decision and I accepted at.

He did not endorse Obama until McCain proved to be the unscrupulous candidate he has over the past month. And not the McCain of 2000. This is the last time in his lifetime he will get a real shot at the presidency and he knows it. He's desperate and pissed at this newcomer Obama for stealing that away from him. And it shows...

It was just a mere observation. But based on the "highly accurate" Howard Stern interviews of black Americans regarding who they will vote for shows that nearly every black man in America will vote for Obama. ;)

Those were the silly uninformed blacks just like the silly uninformed whites that WON'T vote for Obama because he's black.

Personally I hope these 2 moron groups cancel each other out.

This may come as a shock to you PHPGator, but there are wealthy black people too and they tend to vote Republican as well because no matter your skin color, money is money.

I've got a feeling you're joking though. LoL. Especially since you quoted the Howard Stern show as "Highly Accurate". :D

I had the feeling he was joking, too - until he replied. My read of his inclusion of the Stern show is to say "well, blacks are voting for Obama because he's black."

PHP - please answer directly: do you sincerely believe Powell's endorsement is because they share the same race?

No! lol, it was a joke. My reference to Howard Sterns statistical analysis could be anything but serious. Most of it was sarcasm, but that doesn't translate well in a forum I suppose. ;)

Nice attack NPT but, I'm still not a racist. You love to attack trying to push your agenda. I am not afraid to talk about race, gender or about anti-Americans. No Obama is not qualified to be President Of the United States. The United States will get what they are asking for LOL. I am glad I am not just starting out, having to start from scratch. The only thing that will save the US from Obama's economic policy is if gas prices fall, if not, Obama will ruin the nation with his bottom up agenda. Powell is voting for Obama so he will not be remembered as an uncle tom. If McCain was way ahead in the polls Powell would be endorsing him.

    FACT

Why did that one question get so much media attention? Shouldn't the media be doing some real reporting instead of what they have been doing the past few months.
