I couldn't care less if my competitors find out I use the coop. Hey, guess what, most of them already do. And hey, guess what? I kick their ass on the engine rankings. And hey, guess what? if the ones that still don't use it find out and start using it, I will still kick their asses on the engines. Me, like 99% of the members here, have links on our sigs promoting the coop, we want more people using it so our links are advertised more and more.

You have no idea of what the coop really is.

As I said, if you use the coop to try to gain artificial rankings then I really pitty you.

I still don't see the need but I'm sure Shawn will decide as he has the last say.

Well said, I'd like to echo the comments here, and add that I've enjoyed the networks evolution, but I want to continue to see it growing towards the community goal.

That may be so but you and E Doc Tong are not talking about the same thing. E Doc Tong seems to be terrified of a ban by google and thinks removing this piece of code will insulate him. That is a totally different issue and there are facts involved.

E Doc Tong continues to ignore the facts which is probably what prompted Fymans rant

TOPS30 I believe you could end up letting lots of co-op users go unresolved causing them eventually to make alternative networks. This surely cannot be in the interest of Shawn's.

Maybe one day he'll figure out to make multiple network groups so that when one co-op group fills up to a certain limit or size or amount of keywords or whatever, It will close for new members and group no 2-9999 starts up.

Personally I don't know if this is beneficial, but maybe something will evolve out of it...

    Both issues are just BS.
One thinks that he will get banned by google, the other one is worried because he uses the coop to get rankings on engines, which is not the purpose of the coop.

Then please let me know the reason why you don't want your competitors to know that you are using an advertising network?

I use it for the same reasons as everyone else. To advertise my goods. Using a tracking url I get very good sales from it.

    I don't understand what you're getting at?

Because they're my competitors, they compete with me. Any advantage I think I might have, no matter how small I keep close to my chest. For obvious reasons!

Lol...When you take out a newspaper ad, do you leave it blank so your competition doesn't see it?

You had a slight point (even though I didn't agree) when you were arguing the SEO benefit side but saying you don't want them to advertise in the same network is pretty funny.

You are contraditcting yourself, man. So, what are you using the coop for??? To gain advantage against your competitors? How, by improving your rankings? That is not what the coop is for and that is not a reason for asking shawn to hide it. This is an advertising network, and that is what you haven't understood, this isn't a SEO tool and isn't meant to boost your rankings, if you use it for that then you are wrong and that is no reason for asking Shawn to hide the code.

Of sure this doesn't work for every analogy. But come on, if you'd found a niche to advertise in that no-one else in your industry was aware of would you want them to find out?

OK, now I'm starting to warm up a little.

Firstly Fryman, how and why a user elects to use the coo-op is their business. They're at liberty to do so, and the purpose for which they use it is NOT the product of some binding agreement, rather, a choice on their part that is leveraged for mutual benfit.

This coop is here because Webmasters participate. Pure and simple. It evolves in accord (slowly) with the needs of webmasters other than yourself (and myself).

You should give the subject some room. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to broadcast your sources to the greater world. It's common business sense - regardless of how it's qualified.

In my view the coop is a shared asset, and newbies, even if they are off the mark a little, deserve equal opportunity.

    Chill. !! :)

You don't even know what you are saying, why would I waste my time trying to help you figure it out?

One post you say that you are using is to gain advantage form your competitors, the next post you say you use it to advertise your site, then again you say that you don't want to have your competitors know how you are beating them...

It's almost 5 a.m. over here and I don't feel like arguing anymore, this is just nonsense and I have proved my point already several times. I'm sure Anthony will have a good time when he finds this thread, maybe he can continue this endless discussion. I'll just go to sleep, this thread has made me yawn already several times.

BTW, John, you are wrong, the coop is an advertising network, webmasters using it for other purposes and them complaining about it is just a waste of time.
