my few points to good adsense revenue... 1. build traffic 2. consistent content posts (daily) 3. make content relevant to over-all subject to site (become an authority on your subject matter!!!) 4. build more traffic 5. socialize your site (facebook/twitter) 6. do not do hardcore SEO.. soft SEO will do... Adsense bot will pick up your content just fine. 7. organize your adsense account/ad units so they are targetable by other advertisers... ie: describe each of your units or channels. 8. avoid clicking on your own ads. 9. repeat steps 1-6!

Internet users are blind to ads on the whole. However, I was once blind to ads, now I actually take time to check it out cuz I've reached sites that were relevant to my interest through Google ads. Like one person said, don't put all your eggs in one basket. I am glad that Google makes these updates to weed out spammers and irrelevant content from their search rankings. I hate all these stupid link building services and other SEO services that promote sites with the sole purpose of making money. You see it here every day on DP. These guys make the internet browsing experience a poor one.

Stupid blackhat SEO, keyword stuffing, content duplication and all that crap isn't worth being on the internet. When I go to a site, I expect to see what I'm looking for or relevant info, and maybe your ads will lead me to something else after I've been browsing your site for sometime. A lot of sites that rank high for certain keywords on Google are good for nothing. I don't even spend one second on them. You can tell it was made for the sole purpose of promoting adsense links. Check the buy and sell section of DP and you'll see who and what Google is trying to get rid of.

If your content is relevant and your traffic is natural, Google updates should not affect you!!!!

    That's a basic generic claim.

It's just that you don't make any money.

Hey James, your posts are really incisive and insightful. Thanks.

The quote above refers to something I've neglected. Frankly, I don't even know where to begin with this.

How do I get a handle on who is advertising on my site? It seems whenever I visit my site all the ads are relevant to searches I personally have conducted on Google and only a few look directly relevant to my site content.

Is this information available in Analytics? Someplace else?

    Thanks!

The more people believe what you said is true, the less competition we all adsense publishers have. :)

here, this information is available, it's a new feature, in your adsense account in the "Allow & block ads" tab, it's called the ad review center.. There you can see what ads are being displayed on your site, it's better than relying on your own experience for reasons you know.
    https://www.google.com/adsense/v3/app#allowAndBlockAdsOverview

Now, I'm not saying to waste time blocking advertizers who seem to not pay enough, that's the job of adsense. I have 0 advertizers blocked since 2003, although at one point I don't remember I think it was in 2006 or 2007 there was some buzz around doing that, so I tried and I blocked the 200 sites limit at the time, but since it improved nothing and it is not my job anyway, I quickly reverted this experience to 0 blocked.

What I'm talking about is simply go to google search and enter keyword for searching about some topics you have already worked out being potentially good and see if there are ads displaying on google indeed, and since we must not rely on our own experience, you can use the adwords keyword tool ( https://adwords.google.com/o/Target...000000&__o=cues&ideaRequestType=KEYWORD_IDEAS ) and look at the competition column and the average high bids for your topic's main keywords.. but you can also use common sense because we know for instance between poetry books and auto parts which one is most likely to have the busiest advertizer market.. So you can slowly filter out the different topics you worked out in the previous phase before starting any new site for long term.

Thanks. I'll sign up for that right now.

Thanks, James, for the information. It's proving useful already.

I've only one keyword phrase, closely related to my primary topic, that has high competition and its global monthly search volume is paltry (58).

I'm making decent money on this site, but I think I need to expand to other niches.

    Thanks again,

    David (here)

Do you know anyone in real life that wants to click on an ad?
Do you know anyone who wants to watch commercials on TV?
Do you know anyone who actually wants to buy all these spammy/scammy products from all these sites?

Yes there are still a few suckers left in the world but not that many.

Youtube money is weak also for the number of views needed.

Of course. I click ads regularly when I fail to find what I'm looking for in organic search. This isn't everyday, but I click several ads a week.
    No.
No. But not all products advertised on Adsense are scammy. Most on my site are legit.
How does clicking an ad you have interest in make you a sucker? C'mon.

One thing I've learned is organic traffic is good for Adsense CTR. These are the people who click ads on my site.

There are many many suckers, don't worry about that, they are those who reproduce the most, there's no shortage.. It's not an issue! Personally I worry that the suckers are getting more and more online via smartphones and my sites are not ready to welcome them there, that's all..

This is a very apt assessment. I've done a lot of work in the bankruptcy niche. The economically disadvantaged are getting online via smartphones in big numbers. They can't afford a computer and broadband, but they can afford a smartphone. Lots of growth here and these people are low information so likely ad clickers.

Hey guys, there would always be suckers online. Think about it this way:-
Everyday millions of people are born and millions die. Those that were born would have to join the internet browsers one day to right? There's will always be newbies on the internet. Today thousands of people (most likely kids and old folks) are using the internet for the first time in their life. There's a first time for everything right?

    Makes sense?

a good mobile advertising platform to monetize your mobile traffic is Tapit! At Tapit we can work hard and aim to provide fill rates of 90 to 100%, if most of your traffic is coming from the US. We also give you the possibility to target your audience and block categories that may interfere with your current ads. There is no exclusivity contract and you can always terminate our services at any time. So theres really no risk in trying it !! some of our geos are US, canada, UK, Pakistan, Italy, and many more.

Not sad, that's good. Obviously they were garbage sites that got removed so that is better for the internet world to not find these garbage sites. Panda was awesome IMO...

you gotta be kidding me!! Suckers for people who click on ads??

Before ads used to irrelevant but nowdays google ads are generally on the topic. I'm using adsense and earning around $40/day. This is just plain stupid to think that adsense earning is dying because remember it is main source of income for google too, so they would always try to optimize it to earn more and more themselves.
